Current mood:  romantic
Since our last blog we have been very busy....

...mainly watching shows, putting on shows and coming up with new exciting ideas for Broken Friend Records.

So here is a list off things going on and exciting us at BFR HQ.

Firstly, around two weeks ago on a very grey Glasgow night we found ourselves sipping on malt whisky at a bar in the west end called, Uisge Beatha (Gaelic for "water of life" - which is whisky or whiskey if your Irish), and stumbled upon a night that, for our sins did not know existed.

It was a "proper" Scottish night with great solo artists and poem readings that i am sure Rabbie Burns himself would have been happy to be a part off. A truly great night and if you haven't been i would recommend to anyone in the Glasgow area.

It runs from about 7pm to midnight i think. Every Sunday.

That leads us nicely on too some bands we have seen live recently.

Errors - Who are in our opinion probably the most exciting emerging Scottish band at the minute. Superb live.

Die!Die!Die! - very loud live band, with a frontman who spends all his time in the crowd. Didn't know to much about them before the show, thought they were pretty good.

Dupec and The Foundling Wheel.

Both Edinburgh based bands, they sound nothing alike but they were playing a show together last week that we caught and it seemed to really work. Both very good and worth a listen.

Now down to some label stuff.

We are going to be running a few shows in December for a Geordie band called Little Comets who are very very very good and we think will be HUGE in 2009.

Check them out at - myspace.com/littlecometsmusic

The bands tour dates with us look like this,

DEC 2nd @ The Tunnels, Aberdeen
DEC 3rd @ Captains Rest, Glasgow
DEC 4th @ Sneaky Petes, Edinburgh

-------------------------------------------------

Be a Familiars debut release is now available on CD as well as its initial release on 7" an DL and can be purchased from selected record stores and our webstore,

brokenfriendrecords.bigcartel.com

Finally, after nearly 2 years, 3 designers and going from .co.uk to .com our website, brokenfriendrecords.com is nearly complete and a temporary site is up and running to have a look at.

Have a look at brokenfriendrecords.com

Thanks to Richard Butler at skinnywhippetillustration.co.uk for getting it off the ground.

Until next time.
