CastleTone's first event is June 25th! We're super excited about finally bringing something that is actually entertaining to Staten Island nightlife, a real deal party. With bands and art and lights and a show!!! We think it's about time.

So who's involved with our first event?

Our featured bands at this event are Murray:

As a youthful indie rock fan on Staten Island it was hard to think that good rock could come from your backyard. Sure it happened in Athens,Seatle, Olympia, Austin, Jesus even Omaha! But never in Staten Island.Too close to Manhattan and Brooklyn for individual cultural relevance, too far ideologically and sociologically from the two for some friendly cultural exchange. But, a funny thing happened on the way to the cultural doldrums. That funny thing is Murray. Taking some of REM's jangle, Sonic Youth's rhythm and noise, and Nirvana's poppy-ness, four ladies decided to change the landscape of Shaolin's rock scene.

They've been busting heads and breaking hearts from the North Shore to the South Shore (not so much really) and have even made some inroads into those "cooler" boroughs. Marissa, Marisa, Jessica, and Shanna are hands down the best thing Staten Island has given to the world of music since Wu Tang (plus you can take em home to mama, not that they'd let
you).

You'd better become a Murray fan before it's passé. You'd better become a Murray fan before they blow up and you have to pretend not to like them. Do it for me, do it for Staten Island, do it for yourself. Don't do it for them. They're already miles ahead of you. Sucka!

Dead Rabbit is not actually a deceased rodent. It is not rotting cuddly corpse. It is a band. It is a hell of a moniker for a hell of a band. The self proclaimed "Funky Grunge" Band so new so fresh that they are still placenta covered, umbilical chord attached fetuses of rock.

Grunge has developed a stigma as of late. Fear not, curb those
Nikelback and Staind references this band flies the Nirvana flag with poise and not the least bit of growling suckery. Add to that the plethora of more musically adventurous influences (Broken Social Scene,David Bowie,Radiohead,Spoon most interestingly the Band) and your coming out aces.

So here's this band tinkering with a slew of interesting ideas and top notch songs all in your own backyard. Plus they may help make it cool to enjoy grunge again. Dead Rabbit are sure to be one of Staten Island's most respected bands shortly, until then they'll have to settle for being one of the best.

We'll also be hosting the paintings of Brian Profilio at this event.

Our featured DJ this night will be Dj Creamy, spinning a mix of funk, soul, hiphop , and tons of other shit to dance to.
