So it's been quite a while since any of us have hit up the ol' blogging page, and since my fellow cohorts in musical crime are busier with than I am at the moment, I decided that I would take it upon myself to bring you all up to date on Free Under Constant Threat.

As you all can plainly see on our page, the new songs are up and doing great.  We've been getting a decent amount of plays a day, but they could be higher.  That's why we also decided to get our name out there via www.popcurrent.com Visit the site and give us some pops.  It'll ensure that we stay in the "limelight".  Anyway, the making of the demo was awesome.  We recorded over at Monsterland Studios in Brooklyn with their very skilled engineer, Byron.  What was only supposed to take 12 hours to record ended up taking about 20 hours over the course of different days.  It was amazing to see everyone pull together to make this demo come to life.  Some of us in the band have recorded in the past, and some of us have not, so it was really inspiring to experience everyone helping each other out.  We pretty much banged everything out in one long, grueling day, but as you can all hear, it wasn't in vain.  We want to thank Monsterland for the hundredth time for helping us make what we think is a pretty fucking kick ass demo.  Now we just have to get it into the right hands, which leads me to my next paragraph.  Follow me...

Frankie Cheez is someone you don't know but who you should know.  He's friends with the Misfits, which to me is just friggin' groovy as all hell, and he's been in the music scene for over 15 years, whether recording and playing with his own band Pocket Octopus or recording hilarious "Jerky Boys" style cds with some serious bite to them.  He also happens to have an internet radio show called The Electric Cheez.  Anyway, I met Frankie a few months back when he was touring with some friends in a band called Hippies Gone Wrong (which you should check out!).  They were playing at the Trash Bar in Brooklyn, and when they were done with their schizophrenically charged set, the came to realize that they didn't have anywhere to sleep.  So, Bella and I opened up our doors to the lot of them and let them crash.  We got to talking over lots of beer, and Frankie said he'd check us out when he got the chance.  Lo and behold, Frankie called me up last night and told me that he would be playing our stuff at 9PM on his show and that he wanted to interview us.  I tried to get the guys together, but that's sometimes the hardest thing to do in a band.  They played "Summer's Gone" and "Chisels and Stethoscopes" last night, and I got to talk to the guys about our upcoming show at Arlene's Grocery on the 30th.  All in all, a good night and a huge step in the right direction for the band.

Ahhhh...the future.  It was once bleak and murky like the bottom of a dirty lake but now its clearing up.  We just got a permanent rehearsal space in the city.  This is such a weight off everyone's shoulders because now we can rehearse till we're sick of rehearsing.  That's good because we're currently talking to some people about planning a tour.  Shhhhhh...don't make a big deal out of it yet.  But, all in all, it does spell all types of goodness for us.

I guess that's it for now.  Make sure to mark your calendars for November 30th.  Arlene's Grocery is located at 95 Stanton Street in the Lower East Side.  Tickets are $8 and the show starts at 11:30.  We hope to see some new faces as well as our friends, the old faces.  Peace.

-Tony
