Sunday's season finale of HBO's Flight of the Conchords was easily one of the Funniest Episodes of Anything Ever, and a big reason for this was Todd Barry's hilariously loathsome performance as bongo-playing Todd, the unwanted "Third Conchord." If you didn't catch it this Sunday, it's currently available 24-7 at HBO On Demand and is also in constant reruns. Don't miss it.
Even more importantly, don't miss Todd Barry's big show at the Lakeshore Theater this Saturday, September 8. When he's not busy playing bongos and intimidating hapless New Zealanders, Todd is one of the most hilarious standups alive, part attack-comic and part observational absurdist, his dark view of the world endowing even his most seemingly benign statements with an acerbic aftertaste. Audiences may remember Todd from his role on HBO's legendary Larry Sanders Show, where his character sparred passive-aggressively with a young Sarah Silverman. He's also been on Spin City, Sex & The City, Chapelle's Show, Lucky Louie and Wonder Showzen, on which he sported a barrel and a terrible wig on the notorious "Horse Apples" episode and done standup on Letterman, Kimmel and Conan (after which he was slammed so mercilessly by a blogger that the experience inspired his one-man show Icky.) Todd is also a prolific voice actor, lending his hilariously withering delivery to episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Freak Show, Squidbillies, Home Movies, Dr. Katz and Tom Goes To The Mayor.
Tickets for Todd Barry's Lakeshore Theater show on Saturday, 9/8 at 8 PM are $18 and are available by calling TicketWeb at 866-468-3401 or by visiting www.lakeshoretheater.com.
