Current mood: determined
At the insistence of several winery owners I finally decided to try my hand at making my own wine. So, this fall I bought a home winemaking kit from Fulkerson Winery. My weakling brain was unable to really understand exactly what I was supposed to do, but I did my best. For the past few weeks its been "cold stabilizing" on my enclosed porch. Last night I had a few friends over for cards and decided, since I had some suckers... errr, I mean, "testers" on hand, to pour a glass and see how it turned out.
And I'm happy to report a few things: 1- It is not vinegar 2- It is potable. 3- It tastes like grapefruit 4- After all the fuss/hassle of making it (I don't like cooking either) and the resulting quality, or lack thereof, I DEFINITELY know why winemakers are professionals, and I should stick to writing vaguely entertaining blogs like this! ;-)
Live and learn! And yes, rest assured, I will be torturing friends and family alike with my wine once I get it bottled!
Happy New Year!
