“Noiseless Moonbeam Thrill” is a fitting
title for the low-level drone/sound excursions that French sound artist
Enfer Boreal (a.k.a. Maxime Primault) helms on this full-length
packaged with the consistently brilliant artwork from Housecraft. At
least one could say it is certainly a ‘thrill’ to hear the spellbinding
results of Primault’s tasteful assemblage of fucked-with field
recordings, looping electronics, and sculpted feedback.

Wave-like swells of sound form the backdrop of the opening track “La
Pluie Aux Yeux Obscures”, while the sounds of heavy rainfall and other
electronics whir about. Midway through a soothing loop mounts before
the track gurgles to a close. The second track “Double Rama” also hints
at nature’s elements with its more ominous static windstorm. The
repeating moan of what sounds like an approaching ship thickens
throughout the middle section while various electronics swim around it
and get more gnarled by the end of the track. Primault crafts more
sustained low-level ambience on “Pope” and the more expansive feedback
purr of “Ouvrez-Moi Cette Porte Ou Je Frappe En Pleurant”; however, on
the echo-laden crackle’n’crank of “Les Realites Celestes” he injects a
subtle playfulness to the proceedings.

Fans of the Touch label, or really drone fans of any sort, could
probably make room in their collection for “Noiseless Moonbeam Thrill”.
It’s limited to 60 copies, so best to act fast.
