On June 22, we (the Right Hands) will be playing as part of a concert to benefit Greenbelt Alliance here in the Bay Area. This group is involved in helping to fight the rampant swallowing up and paving over of our beautiful open space and farmlands that (still) surround our very urban home. It is the view up to the uncluttered hills that helps make my home livable, and the fact that within 20 minutes on my bike I can be up among those trees and rolling hills and can ride or walk for hours in a (more or less) natural setting. Joining us on the bill will be Hot buttered Rum, a young band that is not only talking the talk, but walking the walk, and The Wronglers, an old-time string band that features Warren Hellman as the banjo player. Warren is the financier who is responsible for the incredible gift to the Bay Area of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival every October. By the way, the Dunsmuir House, where Bluegrass for the Greenbelt will be held, is Warren's family home, where he spent summer vacations as a kid.
Please come out and join us if you're in the area. Check out the solar-powered stage and sound, and the small bicycle-driven sound system, too.
