you can get it at
contraphonic records or stores, or me. if you liked make/believe i'm sure you'll dig it. 3 dozen musicians i've met over the years join me! here's some text about it:
For Reverse the Charges, Joshua Marcus further elevates all of the high points of his past release make/ believe. On make/ believe we heard his collaboration with a dozen Philadelphia musicians; now, Marcus has traveled the east coast and mid-west and worked with over four-dozen musical friends and family he's known throughout the years. Reverse the Charges is Marcus' most musically moving and lyrically powerful recording to date. He has figured out what he wants to say and just how to fit it to tune, sliding so many syllables in line.
Steeped in the traditions of pre-AAA folk song and borrowing from the phrasing genius of hip-hop emcees, Reverse the Charges is a moving, yet calming, sing-a-long. The twelve tracks of the recording were composed simultaneously for solo banjo and vocal performance when Joshua is touring, and yet larger, yet careful, arrangements of string-sections, brass, percussion and a whole other slew of instruments permeate the recording.
On Reverse the Charges, a few fellow Philadelphia musicians return, as we hear the eerie bowed bass of Jack Ohly throughout and the country-perfect vocals of Amy Pickard. Amongst the crew of additional accompanists are: The Lesser Birds of Paradise, Big Blood (members of Fire on Fire), Red Heart the Ticker, Joy, and Pittsburgh violin virtuoso Megan Williams.
In addition, Marcus' own band Fan of Friends lend a guitar and voice to "Oh, Metal Bird." Fan of Friends also have a recording coming out this year as well, together on Contraphonic Records and High Two Records.
