Current mood:  aggravated
Okay, I admit it. There are times when I'll do just about anything to avoid the work that needs doing. But right now, with my house a wreck because workmen are repairing my flood damage, I have an excuse, damn it. So I'm into my TV watching mode again. Yeah, I'm an addict and proud of it. But, please, what's with these short seasons?

Case in point: True Blood is almost over already. Noooo. Okay, I cried when Godrick went up in smoke, even though I'd read the book and knew it was coming. But, come on, people, make a few more episodes between breaks. And Being Human on BBCAmerica. It's getting really good and, oops, only one more show to go. Are you kidding me? Where is my vampire fix coming from? Vampire Diaries? Which starts when? And what if I don't like it? And if I do? Did they make more than eight or nine episodes? This is ridiculous.

Really enjoying Drop Dead Diva. So I figure it's about time for them to pull the plug on that show next. Argh. Burn Notice is on break. So is In Plain Sight. Tonight's the season finale of The Closer. Is TV a wasteland or what?  So You Think You Can Dance is coming back soon. And Glee looks interesting. Not that we can forget about it. Have you ever seen so many commercials for a show? But what's with dumping Paula Abdul from Idol? She was at least interesting. Sure, she was off her meds, but, come on, give the girl some credit for having a wardrobe.

As for other procrastination exercises, hit the Internet. Be sure to visit my fan sites. First, there's the one here on Myspace run by Heather. The Glory fan site has questions of the day and other fun stuff. There's also the one on the web run by Dani and Heather. Check out gerrybartlett.com for the links. I've given them both inside info on Glory and myself for your reading pleasure. Also I will sign bookplates for you. Find out how to get them at one of those sites. Yes, signing stuff and running to the post office is also a way for me to procrastinate.

Lately I've met a couple of fans down at my shop in Galveston. Fun! I'm not there very often so it was pure chance. Be sure to email me if you think you're going to be down this way and I'll let you know my work schedule. I'd hate for you to drive all that way for nothing. Though you could shop, buy some antiques or vintage clothes, waste some time... It's hot this time of year, but a great way to kill time. And what should I be doing? Writing book 6, of course. But I've got allergy issues from all this dust. And my friend Nina Bangs says we should go out to dinner and brainstorm with another writer friend. Ah, procrastination. Don't you love it?

I just rent a booth in the shop, Somewhere In Time. And only work one or two days a week. Wouldn't own the shop on a bet. Too much responsibility. But love the treasure hunting. Be sure to check with me to see when I'm there before you make a special trip to see me. Hope to connect.

Procrastination is a guilty pleasure we all divulge in.  I moved into my house almost a month ago and still don't have any rooms but the living and dining room completely unpacked...  my daughter started 1st grade today and I had to go through a million boxes to try and find her book bag to no prevail  argh....

I am not a big fan of Season 2 of True Blood.  I would be MORE so if it had more to do with the vampires and less to do with the BS of Mary Ann (I can't stand that storyline)...

Hate Mary Ann. Taking over Sookie's house? No way. The faster they can kill her off, the better. Definitely not the books. Which is what happens when TV gets hold of any series. Sometimes they improve. Have to admit there's plenty of action. Love the dream sequences with Eric. He's hot.

Oh I loathe Mary Ann.  I like in the books they kept that storyline short and sweet.  Every episode has been centered around her and not our vamps is ridiculous.  I rant about it every weekend.  Now we get to look forward to the last 2 episodes being about her too.  They should have renamed the series "Mary Ann the Maenad" for season 2...

I forgot Eric.  I LOVE ERIC!!!!!  He's my fav character in the book series too.  Book 5 is my favorite book because of him.  We need to see more Eric and less Mary Ann.

me too, that was not the story line...although I like that they did not kill LaFayette, he makes a good story line himself!

Yes, more Lafayette. Great character. Less Jason, though I liked the God-like scene. Finally he used his pea brain.

Does anyone love their thighs? And my stomach! Don't get me started. The new style that looks like a maternity top looks cute on a size two teenager. On me, it's filled out just enough to make me look pregnant. And I'm too old for that. Yuck.

You might enjoy Psych on USA! It is hilarious! My sister got me hooked last summer.

I agree! Eric is such a hottie! And those dreams she is having?!?! Amazing!

You should join the "Procrastinators of America Unite" club. Tomorrow of course... ;)

Yes, I watch Psych, right after Monk. Love the dialogue on Psych. You have to really pay attention to get all the jokes. Fun.

On Hulu, and the Youtube have almost all of the back seasons of Forever Knight, Dark Shadows (both late 60's -70's and the 90's one), and Buffy are on there too. And if you go to Lifetime on line there is a show call Blood Ties. I do a lot of my TV watching on line, because I'm at work all the time. I hope that will help with your vamp fix.

I loved Blood Ties. One of those series that didn't get enough time to gain a following before it was cut. Interesting that we can watch on the computer now. Not sure I want to, though. I spend enough time here. LOL.

Hi Gerry,
How are you?Long time no talk.I know what you mean about the episodes on tv shows being so short now.How it used to work was the first season of a show was usually 12 episodes, then if he got picked up for a second season it had atleast 22 episodes and 22 from there on in for each additional season.I am loving true blood also.I have one complaint though.I'm not getting enough of Hoyt.lol I love him and I am glad he has more of a storyline this season although I have to catch up on the last two eps.
As far as what's good to watch let me suggest,in case you didn't watch it when it was on because of the lack of advertising..is Harper's Island a thirteen episode murder mystery. All I can say is I really loved it,you can watch all the episodes online or buy it .It is definitely worth it. I'm kind of looking forward to vampire diaries too,but I hope it doesn't have a barely pg rating in it's story telling like Twilight and I hope it has all the wit, humor and great writing that both Buffy/Angel did.I guess we will just wait and see.The new show "Eastwick" looks interesting and so does "flash forward" and since I am it here,I need another season of Monk lol and I am looking forward to more ugly betty!! PS vampire diaries is on tonight or tomorrow night I think.
Anyway you're awesome Gerry, and as you know I love all the books and I'm excited for the next one.You rock! Stay cool !

PSS I forgot to also add in that I too am not crazy about that MaryAnn character and the storyline is a yawn ,I am also not crazy about Jason,Love Lafayette he's my favorite character and I do love Hoyt...but I think I said that already.I didn't think I would be about to tolerate that teenage terror Jessica but she's okay-for now.
And don't real bad about procrasting. It is my middle name,I should be getting the show on the road with my writing and I'm taking a break that seems too long lol.

Agree, agree. I'll be tuning in Vampire Diaries and seeing how it goes. The evil vamp brother looks hot. Of course you knew I'd be drawn to him, just like I like Eric instead of Bill on True Blood. Got to have the bad boy. Sigh. But wouldn't want to live with one day to day. This is all fantasy, right? I'm still working on my house. Now painting my "office" and adding drapes. Pretty soon I'll have a decent place to write. No excuse not to sit butt in chair and do it. Except the mall is calling. Oh, I am so bad.
