CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER MAY 2009
Welcome to the 49th edition of the Clairecords newsletter, brought to you by  a comfy lawn chair and a cooler brimming with the beverage of your choice.

The always-awesome KDVS-FM (Davis, CA) has published a sordid expose of the inner workings of shoegaze in the latest edition of its quarterly publication, KDViations.  Clairecords features most prominently in this feature, and details are but a download away: http://www.kdvs.org/public/kdviations/kdviations_spring09.pdf .

But wait—there’s more! The 15th annual URB Next 100 Issue is now online, and we're honored that its editors included Autodrone among them.
Read all about it here! http://www.urb.com/permalink/5827/Next-100-Issue-Digital-Edition-Is-ONLINE.html . You can also obtain an embeddable widget for your Myspace page, Facebook outpost or blog here: http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/urb-next-100 .
A print copy of the issue is waiting for you at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and, of course, at urb.com. Congrats to Autodrone, and thanks to URB!

AUTODRONE
As if the URB spread wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for more Autodrone, the band will join Asobi Seksu, Bill Callahan, Brightblack Morning Light and many other fabtastic melody makers at Brooklyn’s fantastic Northside Festival next month. After that, Autodrone will once again motor West, this time to record a live session at the always-respectable KEXP-FM. So keep your ears open, Northwesties!

AVERKIOU
James Hernandez speaks! “Lately we've been working on writing new songs, most of the songs we play are 2+ years old, so we're trying to get some new blood into the set list, and also work towards having enough material for a new release. And while on that subject, our friends at Sound Study records have been kind enough to work towards releasing a two song 7-inch that should be available in early July.”

SECRET SHINE
The bastions of Brighton are busy crafting new material for their next long-player and gearing up for their second tour of Germany in October. Secret Shine are seeking to add additional dates beside the stops listed below, so if city and venue suggestions would be most appreciated from the Rhinelanders among you.

SILVER SCREEN
There’s plenty going on in the Silver Screen camp: As Cris Miller reports, the next album is rapidly taking shape. Titled When You and I Were Very Young, it’s expected to be finished in June. Details to come. In further news, “I will be taking vacation In Bali and West Java, Indonesia. Part of it is recreation, and part of it will be promoting Silver Screen music to a potential southeast Asian audience. There is a possibility I will be on a radio show in Indonesia for an interview and perhaps Silver Screen acoustic performance.”

Jeremy Aliskauskas (AUTODRONE)
“We as a band just spent Memorial Day playing croquet in
the park dressed fully in Victorian period clothing with one of those
bicycles that has one huge wheel and one small one. Either say that or that we started work illegally building a roller coaster.”
