Well, we're 2 weeks into this summer thing. How's it going for you?
So far, the library's summer is pretty wonderful! We had our first Teen Club Activity last Tuesday where we did a School's Out Scavenger Hunt. 23 of your friends attended.
This Tuesday, 50 of your teen friends attended our Traditional Tie-Dye program! 50! It was very colorful! A big thanks to Connie Knudtson who orchestrated the whole thing and taught everyone how to make the perfect spiral and diagonal tie-dyed shirts!
We are also in full swing with our 2-for-1 reading times (where you come to the library on Tuesdays from 2-3 and/or Thursdays from 5-6, read for an hour, and count that one hour as two, and turn in a whole reading log). Yesterday, we had 18 2-for-1 readers!
We've also given away some pretty great prizes. We have some really good, current books to choose from, and we've given away a canvas bag with our Express Yourself @ Your Library theme on it, a t-shirt from the Navy, passes to play free mini-golf at Route 66 Carousel Park, free swim passes at the city pools, two all-access passes to the Bridge, a $10 gift card to Vintage Stock, a free pass to Mike and Andy's Classic Arcade, and a $10 gift card to Game Xchange!
Prizes are given away after each of our Tuesday programs. Check our calendar on MySpace or our website calendar (
http://www.joplinpubliclibrary.org/vcalendar/index.php) for details.
We've got lots of prizes donated by local businesses this year. Here's a list of our donors:

Please let them know you appreciate their generosity!
See you @ the library!
