I plan on finishing my Composer album for Christmas. If so, it'll be three years in the making, most of which was just learning how to BE a recording engineer, collecting and experimenting with equipment, rerecording, remixing, reediting, etc. There are still a thousand improvements to make, but song 12 should be done this week and 13 (the conclusion) has already been started.

It's to be considered my postgraduate work.

After they're completed, I'll likely go back and remaster the lot of them, especially as I've now discovered Impulse Response Convolution Reverb through Audioease's Altiverb 6. It uses gunshot samples of real spaces to recreate reverb for my instruments, which I can then move around on stage - cleaner, 1000x the variety, and it sounds honestly like natural reverb. The technology was first invented in 2002, and has been steadily improving.

Though I'm still learning, here's a recent example of song 11 with each instrument digitally placed around the room (Altiverb 6's Allaire Great Hall).

Tanzen, named for the German word 'dancing' or 'to dance', is a melodically driven short instrumental featuring syncopation and the arabic scale.

Composer & recording engineer T. Nathan Roane (tabla, djembe, doumbek, bass drum, tambourine) with guests Jaime McGill (bass clarinet) and Hannah Boley (phonofiddle).
