The
lyrics to every song we have performed live have been added over at Vodamusic.com.
About half of these, I didn't know at all until Andrew posted them this morning. I'm usually too busy trying to not screw up my guitar part to pay attention to the lyrics, so the only ones I really know are the songs we have recorded. It's been an ongoing irrational fear of mine that one day someone would ask me something like, "So, what's with the anti-Semitic lyrics?" ...
Of course, the lyrics have turned out to contain no such hateful messages. A little rabble rousing, a little social criticism, yes. But nothing too disturbing. Phew!
A favorite of mine is
Rule 21, which features the great line, "Bring me the head of Barry Bonds." Rule 21 in this case refers to the MLB rule dealing with
cheating, bribery, and gambling in baseball, not the rarely-invoked Senate rule.
"Harvard Square is over. Don't you fucking call me Moonlight Graham. Williamsburg is over. It was over before it began," is from the song,
Call Me Doctor, which we have closed every show with.
[Everyone thinks the song is called 'Harvard Square is Over.' - Andrew] Yeah, I know, I feel bad for Charlie's Kitchen too...
