On my way to Los Angeles to work on a few new songs with a producer named Rich Jacques, as well as Rob Giles. I'm excited about it - I like the creativity I see in these guys, and I always have a good time recording in LA. The songs we're doing will be good for Film/TV, and one in particular I think will be a favorite with my female fan base :). Let's put it this way - if you like the humor of "Home Depot", you will appreciate this one...

I've also been having a good time co-writing with some country writers, too. Yesterday, I wrote with Bridgette Tatum, who wrote "She's Country" for Jason Aldean, which has done really well on the charts. Bridgette is kind of like Gretchen Wilson, in terms of her image - SHE is a South Cackalacki (South Carolina) country girl! What I like about her is that she is a strong artist in additional to being a great writer, too. She's got it all going on, which you know I admire, because I've certainly worn all those hats, too. The truth is, most people are good at one or the other and rarely both these days...

Anyway, we wrote a pretty funny song that we both agree a guy like Trace Adkins could knock out of the ballpark. It's a guy song - called "The Southern Kind", and it is country as cornbread :)...fun as hell to sing, too! It was inspired by Ms. Leslie Cooper, who some of you know. Her southern drawl inspired the idea for me - the way she says things like "Nekkid" and such. I've met few people with such a strong accent, except my good old friend Jill King, who is a country singer here on MySpace...(check her out!)....

On my way out of Bridgette's publishing company, speaking of country as cornbread, I ran into the guy who wrote" Friends In Low Places" for Garth...Bud Lee. Such a nice guy, and a total Nashville character. You can always see Bud coming because he's got that long, curly "Dog the Bounty Hunter" hair :)....

And that's what I do love about Nashville. All these amazingly creative people just hanging out, so laid-back and so normal, really. Writers and artists and music business legends. I've seen Alison Krauss shopping at Target with her little boy in the shopping cart, Amy Grant on the treadmill at the YMCA, Keith Urban at Border's Books, and Wynonna eating dinner (what else :)?) at a local steakhouse. It's a great place - and now I have to go, as we're pulling into the gate at the La-La Land airport!
