Current mood:  confident
Thanks to everyone for checking out the demo of my song, "Let Me Give you My Coat". It's just one of many new songs that I've written recently, and I wanted to share it with you. It was written after I went to see Ray LaMontagne play at the Ryman. I left that show sooo inspired. Ray's music just makes you feel good in your soul - like a coat. Thus, the song :).

I'll probably put a project together of acoustic music for those of you who have been asking. Thanks for posting comments about my music that everyone can see, by the way - it makes others want to go hear the song, and that helps me a lot :).

I'm writing in a lot of interesting styles lately and having a blast doing it. I'm recording songs in both Nashville and LA to keep it exciting and creative, and I'm working with some great new people - both writers and producers. Some songs will be pitched to Film/TV opportunities, some will be for my own various artist projects, and some will be pitched to country and pop artists. I really just want to do it all!

My trip to LA was good for my soul. The producers I worked with - Rich Jacques and Rob Giles - are such creative, outside-of-the-box thinkers - and I think we were all mutually inspired by each other. The excitement in the studio was palpable to everyone who came through to visit. All of the 3 songs we recorded came out spectacularly - and one, in particular, is already generating a huge buzz among the small group of people who have heard it.

As a result, I have been scrambling this week to get a marketing plan ready for this song, to get artwork ready for the single, and to get it uploaded to Itunes so we can sell it. It will be ready soon. I am gathering a list of my key press, radio, and web contacts to help get this song as much exposure as possible. And to the fans...anything you can do once you hear the single to spread the word, to urge people to buy the single, would be greatly appreciated.

I honestly believe the song will spread like wildfire regardless of what I do, and it will certainly stir up some controversy in conservative circles. 10 years ago, that fear may have actually stopped me from releasing something like this - fear of what people might say, fear of what my family might think - but I am poised and confident that I have to do this :). I have my reasons, and I think most of you will hopefully see why when you hear it...

More soon!
Christy

(Sorry, I can't tell if this posted the first time!!)

Beautiful new song - love it!! And can't wait to hear this upcoming "controversial" song. :) I'm glad to hear you have overcome your fear of how people will react...you're obviously continuing to be true to yourself and moving forward with confidence, and that is something to be proud of! I think you have really come into your own.

I've just recently discovered Ray LaMontagne...I knew Brooke White and Zac Brown Band are fans, so I figured I really needed to give him a listen! It fits that you would be a fan too. I got his latest CD the other day. And yes, it does make you feel exactly as you described. :) Yours has much the same effect for me...even when you explore a darker side of something, the emotion still shows there is beauty in the world in spite of the darkness.
