Here at Devil's Workshop Custom Drums we dedicate a lot of time and effort to make sure our bearing edges are individually crafted to perfection. You will not get this type of attention to detail from any production style drum company. The process we use is very involved and time consuming. We start by making a rough cut on the router table. Then the drum is taken to the sanding table to insure the surface is completely flat. Then the drum is taken back to the router table again for the finishing cut. The drum is then inspected under a magnifying lamp to check for any flaws. It's then given the first sanding before we seal the edges with three applications of penetrating finnish. After that we wet sand up to 1500 grit. For the final treatment we use the buffing wheel on the edges with our special wax. The buffing and application of wax provides a glass like burnished surface that your drum heads will not stick to when under tension. You will get more consistent and faster tuning out of your drums.
