So, I'm building my fanbase readership. Of course this means adding new people on MySpace. By nature, I am not a web fanatic. I'm old school -- I like either talking to people on the phone, or face-to-face. Email, IM or texting, to me, is just a way to expedite communication when real contact is not possible. While advanced communication tools are absolutely necessary to function today, the web/IM/text messaging also allows people to create inauthentic identities and superficial connections that prevent others from seeing who they really are.

Nothing is less appealing to me than artifice, especially as it relates to human contact. In short, I hate fake sh*t. Even on MySpace. If I've added you, it's because I really know you and like you, or you represent something real to me. Everyone here matters somehow -- you're family, (who occupies the top spots), you're a friend from way back, you're a newer friend, or you are an entertainer, writer or politician, whose work I find meaningful. That's it.

At the end of the day, I may really need to talk to you about something. We could play a larger role in each other's lives. For those who don't know me, we could very well meet soon. And if you are not who you say you are, I'll be very disappointed. So, if you've transcended the bullsh*t of online superficiality and managed to grab my attention, it's a good thing. That means we'll likely have a lot to talk about - online, but preferably off.

Take Care,

-S
