when visiting old temples these are things that your average adventurer forgets to do:
10.  If the ancient temple has lots of little things that can kill you with a bite or scratch, remember to bring a sturdy 'walking' stick that has a fair sized knob on one end to keep them away from you.

09  If suddenly the rest of the vermin vacate, you should too. Something big enough to scare them should be treated with extreme caution.

08  Your walking stick has other uses besides removing deadly vermin, this being to check the floor in front of you for pit traps and other such painful things.

07   If you should miss a trigger for a booby trap, and you hear a series of clicks followed by a loud thunk, then a grinding noise, you have stayed in place too long, and should have been running by now.

06   Ancient people often named very large animals to be gods, due to their inability to kill it. so be watchful for overly large snakes in a temple to a snake god.

05  When stumbling across human remains, take a close look, does it look eaten, crushed, stabbed or pierced. Keep in mind that whatever killed that guy can kill you too, so be on the lookout for it.

04  Your wooden stick is in fact not strong enough to hold open a two ton stone door trying to seal you in, don't waste your time and just get the fuck out.

03  When entering a new room look at the ceiling and floor. if the former has large spikes hanging from it, and the latter has holes corresponding with those spikes, do not go in there, its rigged to kill you.

02  If you happen to a golden idol untouched, free standing on any kind of pedestal and aren't dead yet dont move. you haven't tripped the trap yet. study the floor between you and it. we don't leave those kinda things unguarded. to avoid an untimely end either stay away from it or find and avoid the traps. they will be marked somehow. the people that put it there had to get there and out without setting the trap off.

01  Should you spot a large glowing ring or object its time to analyze, is it floating, getting brighter, makeing a high pitched whine thats getting louder or stopped, or is the center of the ring big enough to fit through and has a different image from the rest of the wall behind it? If you are able to answer yes to any of these questions, my friend you have again stood still too long, you should have been running a long time ago. Better start making up for lost time, cause your life most likely depends on it.

00 side note, when running for your life, any one thing that is golden, shiny, or gemlike, and can be picked up and pocketed, you should do so, seeing as its unlikely you will be back. and treasure always makes good souvenirs.
