Current mood: high
Well, our recording session with new bassist Anthony Abatzis has borne fruit, and you get to share in the bounty, bitches. You'll see a song called "Parasail" listed on our profile. It's in its rough mix phase, currently, and more needs doing to bring it up to speed.
Those of you who've followed me since my Heroes of the Alamo days might be having a deja vú moment. Yes, "Parasail" does date to my time with that band. In fact, that band recorded it, but never released it (though we still intend to post it on a posthumous myspace page at some point in the future). So, this new music is old music, as is the other song we just recorded: "All the Women", another HotA chestnut (with a HotA version from the same session as "Parasail"). What can I say, when this recording opportunity dropped in our lap, our band wasn't very rehearsed on the newer material I'm writing; after the first few months of no bassist, we stopped rehearsing. I've been working on five or so songs, but the band hasn't had any chance to learn 'em. Hell, I haven't even learned 'em. They're not finished.
We have 3 songs that we're waiting to finish: a re-recording of "Her Alien Chemistry", "My EEG", and "Come Off Sick". I think I speak for the band when I say that "Come Off Sick" is the band favorite to play right now--it's newness is of course a factor, but it's got a kicking riff, and a Who guitar outro. If my arms didn't dislocate so easily, I'd be fucking windmilling the whole way. Anyway, these 3 songs, thus far, only have rhythm tracks recorded, but we'll be moving forward soon enough.
I didn't work to hard on the writing of this blog, so if it's a bit rambling, I apologize. It can't have been too bad, if you've read this far. Maybe I should put the apology at the beginning. Oh, fuck it, I hate cutting and pasting.
