I wanted to take a minute and comment on a hugely successful show with the Hillbilly Gypsies at The Heidelberg Country Club in Altoona, PA. First of all, it was a great honor to be given the opportunity to play a show with the Gypsies. They are great folks and a super bluegrass band. Each one of them are very talented and their energy is infectious! So, a huge shout out to the Gypsies for giving us a chance to share the stage, and show what we can do.
I also want to recognize Mr. Chuck Cox, whose resourcefulness, enthusiasm, and hard work, landed both Heidelberg gigs, and was directly responsible for our opportunity to play that show. His friendship and faith in our band is greatly appreciated. Thank You Chuck, you da man!
The show was simply awesome. A sold out show, with lots of rowdy (but well mannered) friends and family in attendence. Mama was a bit nervous, but the crowd quickly made us forget that fact. The crowd "made" that show. I think the people in attendence were very surprised and appreciative of what we were doing, and made us feel like rock stars for a night. SO... a great many thanks to anyone and everyone who showed up to support live bluegrass music, you are extremely appreciated.
Many have said that Bluegrass music comes and goes, but I know for a fact that it never left. I think it's more "liked" than most people let on. Bluegrass music is a snapshot of our history. It creates a portrait of a simpler time, of togetherness, family, friends, and down home fun! It just takes a special night like we had May the 5th to remind some folks how fun and awesome it is. Hopefully with the help our friends, Mama Corn will continue to be an ambassador of Appalachian and Bluegrass music for a long time to come.
