Last on for the night are The Fayre whose jaunty ska-inflected pop is a great way to end the evening. Funky basslines are married perfectly to dancey rhythms and sunny guitars; all this even before the vocals come in! It's good to see a band taking inspiration from different genres and moulding it to create an exciting and listenable sound. It's also heartening to see that they are genuinely enjoying being up on stage, a trait missing in many bands that I've seen recently. If they carry on writing catchy-pop numbers such as their encore, The Fayre will have no problem increasing their fanbase and pushing for a record deal. Sounding at times like a junior version of the Zutons, minus a sexy trumpeter,The Fayre's sense of happiness is infectious and after one last pint of warm beer I head for home a happy man.
