Well, going into 16 Ton Studio with John, Phil (drums) and Matt (bass)-- collectively The John Wilde Group-- was a challenge because I had only a few days to check out the tunes before we went in... But it turned out to be a complete blast!
We rehearsed on Monday, then started recording on Tuesday... The awesome rhythm section was finished the 1st day, and John was all over his parts and finished most of his guitars and vocals the next day... My part really came in for the 3rd/4th days- what great gear Danny White has at the studio! Killer vibe and fantastic keyboards were in store for me first: B3 (ridiculous rumble!), piano (beautiful and haunting) and the all-too-short stint on the Fender Rhodes...
Siiiigh! How I love that B3 and miss her already...
Next were backup vocals-- love it love it love it! All Beatle-esque, with so many other wonderful influences in John’s music...
Lastly, a few tracks of violin, just to spice things up a little...
And now, Michael Esser is in there working his magic to make mixes that are sure to delight and entertain all lovers of cool British-Invasion style music (and more)! Thanks to Patrick also for his patience and hard work with co-engineering.
