No, your eyes do not deceive you... we've just posted an advance listening session of Animal Collective's bombastic Merriweather Post Pavilion!
Released in Oz next week - SATURDAY, JANUARY 17 - this is possibly one of the most anticipated albums of 2009, if you go by all those near flawless reviews flooding the net and press at the moment, like 9.6 on Pitchfork, five stars in Uncut yada yada yada. The be saying stuff like:
"MPP isn't just an advance on Sung Tongs and Feels - it feels like that moment in Star Wars when the Millenium Falcon jumps into hyperspace and all the stars go wild... Merriweather Post Pavilion doesn't just seem like one of the grest records of 2009, it feels like one of the landmark American albums of the century so far."
Acturally, we 're couldn't agree more on the Millenium Falcon jumping into hyperspace part - it's almost perfect. Still, ignore the waffle - the music speaks for itself so just make up your own damn mind. Now, kick back and soak up the euphoric, ecstatic splendour of the newest offering from what I think are one of the most brilliant bands of our generation.
