Current mood:  cheerful
Last week I was in New York to see Catherine Zeta-Jones perform in the play "A Little Night Music".  She is my daughter-in-law.  She is beautiful and did a wonderful job.  As I watched her perform I thought, what would have happened if my son had married a beautiful girl who was a lousy actress?  He doesn't have that problem.

I asked my son Michael to go with us.  He said, "On weekends I let the staff go so I am now the babysitter."

They have two children, a boy, Dylan, and a girl, Carys.  They are adorable.  But the dividends for being a grandfather - you can play with your grandchildren, and then you go home.  Someone else has to bathe them and put them to bed.

Hi, Kirk,
Just popped in to say Hi.  Happy belated bday and may you and your family be blessed this year.
Catherine is one of the most talented and beautiful actresses.  Normally I would be jealous of her marry Michael, but I like her, so it's okay.  LOL.
About grandkids: I'm not a grandma yet, but I am sure they will be less stressful than my own.
Blessings to  you,
Linda

I hope you had a great time seeing the play and yes she is a good actress and so are your son! " weeks ago they showed when Michael got honor as an actor. I saw something I didnt knew that you had the right to the movie  cuckoo´s nest and you gave it to Michael. I think Jack Nicholsen did a terrific job in that movie but I think Michael could have done it just as well if he had played the part.
I got very moved when they showed how much michael helps other people and there was a young boy that enter the stage to honor michael and because of michael he was able to go to school..
To see how proud and how much love he has for you is amazing. Now I want to wish you a merry merry Christmas and  happy new year, may all you wishes come true..
God bless you and yours..

I'm technically old enough to be a grandfater, but my grown children haven't given me any yet!  I can't wait and hope to have some eventually.  And like you said, you can spoil them and send them home with mom and pops.  God bless you Mr. Douglas!

Night music- Kleine nacht music. Hope you had a good Hanuka and always asked after you during "Face Off was being filmed at Douglas Reuter Prod.
"Mr. Fatal Attractions, played back in a misty mansion..Tupac is wierd about those tapes left for Michael and all that private stuff "up in me"....

It was nice when Miss. Bacall was at the Botanic gardens with me back in 1985. Shes a lovely lady and I'm sorry this situation on my blogs hasn't been dealt with correctly by the other depts.
I was amused by David Nivens account of Humphrey Bogart picking him up by his lapels at the height of 6'5 on the misunderstanding of pheasant hunting and "old cocks". I was amused to picture it.
Hope your well and things start to look up soon.
The other thing was I had this thing for Barbra Stanwick. Her early films, beauty and forcefulness always turned me on. Well, maybe another lifetime.
Love always and I hope you read my blogs and understand I was taken by surprise with these things like loads of others back in 1983. Sure hope the other defense depots. get better soon.
                     Love. Michael

Dear Mr. Douglas,

You are soooo right. Catherine is "not just a pretty face". I have been a fan of hers before she became Mrs. Michael Douglas.

I hope you had a Happy Hanukkah.

Positively yours,

Fantastic and wonderful. Very true. Well a good actress is a good actress. Well that may not have suited his him well. Guess he relates to her and they have that in common. She not a lousy actress and say he married a lousy actress and he love her. Nothing is wrong with that. As long as he loves her that's what counts. This is irrelevant here because he did not marry someone like that can't act.
Marriage is an act anyways. See you talk to much and the wife don't like it. You don't talk enough and they don't like it. It's all an act anyways. Bless Micheal. I think Micheal is one not only fine actor but great actor and one heck of a good hear ted guy.  I love the movie he did "The President. I bought it!
Such a great movie.  What he fired his staff on the week end!!! Joking.. He's a good man because he wants them to enjoy their lives. It makes for a much better staff when they are treated with respect.
Hey Kirk we all went through that. Someone else had to bathe us and then put us to bed. Bless the children and a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Years to them.... And a Merry Christmas to you too.  That play sounds really nice. Nice title "A little night music". I like plays.. seen lots of them over time.

Dear Sir,
This morning I happened to watch a broadcast called "Le Mag" on Euronews Channel Tv and I had the privilege of seeing a clip of "A Little Night Music".I listened to your daughter-in-law singing a beautiful sweet melody. She was terrific and I was touched by her mellow voice. She is perfect and "fills up the scene" as we say in Italy with her glamour, her talent, her sensuous voice.Angela Lansbury too,the famous actress, expressed her enthusiasm to work with a young actress of such skills and predicted a great future as a singer to her.already Oscar winning with "Chicago". I heard that the musical will arrive in Paris in February, and the experts of Euronws said it will be a great success. As for what  concerns grandchildren, you American grandparents are lucky people because here,in Italy,we must bathe and put our grandchildren to bed while our sons go out in the evening and enjoy their cinemas or theatres! A few years ago my son took me as far as Maui (Hawai) to have a "free nanny",And while they went to Honolulu to have fun every night,I had to stay with my little granddaugter "Whale watching " all the time.(It is the only thing you can do in that place ,excellent for young people in their  honeymoons but not for people of a certain age.)To the next. With my regards.

I have enjoyed your many performances. But instead of worrying if Michael had married a beautiful girl who could act.  I would have wished for him a loving wife and mother to the children first. Thats what I wished for my son. Looks and ability would not count as much.  But then again I'm not Hollywood.  And as for speaking my mind I doubt you will read this.  But then again I often wondered what I would do if I ever met a star.  My mouth would probably override my brain.  But  I wish for you many happy years to come.

How blessed you are to not only be a grandfather, but to have the joy of witnessing your children experience professional excellence matched with balance at home.  An iconic filmography is your legacy, but obviously (and even more so)... is a legacy of love with your family. HOW INSPIRING! God bless you Kirk!

Hello Kirk - I saw you leaving the theatre in London showing Irma La Douce in 1957 and was, of course, star-struck as I have always been a fan of yours.   Your family has become a acting dynasty so you must be very proud.

All the best for Xmas and the New Year and a belated happy birthday!

Hi Mr. Douglas, I have seen Catherine Zeta Jones in a lot of movies, including Chicago, she is wonderful, I have seen pictures of the children too and you're right, they are adorable. I live far from my Grandchildren, and my children, so I don't have the pleaseure of seeing them very often, I envy anyone who can see their grandkids when they want to, I'll be moving soon and I will be closer then. I had 4 children and I have four grandchildren, I had them very young, so did my daughter, she had her first child when she was 17 my Mom had me when she was 17 it all goes so fast. Enjoy them , its over before you know it, my grandchildren are people now. You've been lucky , my husband died very young so I had to raise them myself, I did a good job with 3 but the 4th unfortunately decided to go on drugs when others were having babies, she is still a nice person but that changes after a while, the other 3 and my grandchildren are fine people, so it could have been worse, thats why I say, enjoy what you have  while you can,
Enjoy the good things you have sdone and cry and move on with the things that are not so good. nothing is perfect. Excvept my beautiful grand daughter Rachel. LOL
And my grandsons  and my youngest grand daughter Samantha. My 3 daughters are on the top of the page, this was my youngest daughters wedding

Yes, they are a beautiful couple (but Katherine was envied by many women for being married to "your" son, of course). Even though, Katherine is without a shadow of a doubt, a fine actress.  Many happy returns.

And if they start to cry, you just give them right back to Mom or Dad. :-) I'm looking forward to that part when I become a grandparent some day (I hope.) A friend of min in Austria sent me quote I think is just wonderful for writers. Only I change the word "kopf" (head) to "geist" (mind) because it sounds so much better:

„Schreiben ist wie küssen, nur ohne Lippen. Schreiben ist küssen mit dem Geist.“

"Writing is like kissing, but without lips. Writing is like kissing with the mind."
:-)

I hope you & your family have a Wonderful Holiday & Very Happy New Year.
