So I get this 1-800 call this morning. I answered it & nearly hung up after the sound of no one on the other end. So then this Abu sounding guy was on the other end asking to speak with me. I responded, "This is she" and he asked me to repeat what I had just said. I should have said, "Don't call me until you learn to understand English," but I politely repeated myself. He then went into this script of, "This call may be monitored for quality assurance..." when I jumped in.
"Okay, this call may be monitored on my end for quality assurance, as well," I responded.
He stopped speaking. "What?" he asked again. He paused for a second.
"I said this call may be monitored on my end as well, please go ahead," I said.
"Did you say you are recording me?" he asked.
"No, I said I MAY be recording you since you MAY be recording me."
"This call is over," he said. CLICK
Well, okay then. Why is it someone calling me has a right to record me but they get offended if I return the favor?
Turns out I made my credit card payment the day before hubby deposited the check so my payment didn't go through. It's all good now but why couldn't Abu, or better yet a John or Mike, simply speak to me?
So all you out there getting 1-800 calls, start informing them that you may be monitoring their call for quality assurance.
