Bush is done. The War Criminals are looking for work and hopefully tossing a little bit at night wondering if they'll beheld accountable for their crimes. I hope so.

People are all smiles today. It's has the feel of a concert, with the exception that the Mall looks like the America I always dreamed about. I want to believe that we are on the cusp of a new American era. One built of trust and hope instead of fear and consumption. One that doesn't assume American hegemony, no matter how benign, but expects American transcendence, no matter how clumsy. Miranda was perplexed why everyone was getting so crazy, why there were so many TV cameras. I asked her if she understood what tomorrow meant, it's not just a new president, but yes, a black one. We talked about the history of black people in this country, how they got here, how they have had to fight for every scrap of the American Dream so many of the rest of us take for granted, and here we, about to make a black man president of the United States. That's why all these people are here. That's why we are here. To be a witness to history."It's ok, dad, he's just a man." She said as I started tearing up. I laughed, and agreed. He is just a man.

It's going to be a hard row to hoe as the tools are dull and underused and the ground packed hard from years of rain and hot sun. But these kids, they transcend without even trying, while the rest of flail.
