Who Gives Kudos:

January 28, 2008 - Monday
Saturday night, 1:00AM, and I'm driving from Hollywood to my home in Studio City when my life literally flashes before my eyes. As you know Los Angeles has been hit by heavy rains this past week and I was amazed at how much my car was hydroplaning. Suddenly a late model silver BMW in front of me began swerving until all of sudden it was going 50 mph – SIDEWAYS! I was 2 lanes to the right and behind him about 100 feet. I hit the brakes and nothing happened. I yelled "stop, stop" as I watched the car continue moving sideways at this high rate of speed. My next thought: it was going to roll and I was headed straight for it!! My car was slowly starting to stop, and the BMW was still going 50MPH and by this time was tilting slightly as it began to turn 360 degrees until it was actually pointed the right direction. Somehow during this time it moved 4 lanes and ended up to the right of my vehicle. My heart was in my throat. It almost looked like a movie unfolding in front of me. And even though whole incident lasted only a few seconds, it all appeared to be in slow motion

Clearly someone was on my shoulder Saturday night. Had I been 50 feet closer on the freeway, had the car tipped over, had there been more cars on the freeway, or had I been going just a little faster, I may not be writing this today.

Luckily, the driver of the BMW was able to maintain control of the car and move forward without tipping over.

This incident gave me much to reflect on these past few days. I have so much more work to do. I have so much more to accomplish. But most importantly, it taught me how precious life is

Be careful out there.

Am glad you are okay. The scene you described really is enough to wake just about anyone up and make them reflect upon things!!! Wow! Um scary!

I was with a friend and we were coming back from Pasadena Saturday night around 2:00 am or so as well. There were like 5 car accidents on the way to her house in Burbank. We started to hydroplane once ourselves, so basically wound up getting off of the freeway and taking all the side streets back to her place. No fun!!! SCARY!!!

Been meaning to get in touch with you, as I did receive your Christmas card. Things just have not exactly gone to plan lately. Still trying to find a side-job, get movie finished, and fix phone problem, etc.

Take care!

OMG! I'm so glad you're ok! Drive safely out there ... remember "it never rains in southern California" ( as the song goes ), but when it does it pours (somehow that sounds a lot like life). Miss ya! Luv ya!
