Well, hi.
It's been quite a while since the last time we've updated our site, and a lot has happened, suffice it to say the album you were all so patiently waiting for took a bit longer than we had imagined to be released. This had to do with a lot of things, the most significant being an unfortunately necessary reset of priorities
that forced us to set the record aside for a while.
In the time away from Dash Eight, our bassist's (Chuck Cook) son turned five, our drummer (Curtis Krams) played numerous shows with our friends, including Shane Gamble, our guitarist (Chris Demone), while working feverishly at his day-job, has started writing great songs (myspace.com/chrisdemone), and I've been working on my own record (myspace.com/colinstevensonisthatguy) as well as keeping up with a few other random websites (myspace.com/lepushit).
We record together whenever we can, and are working on a second full-length already.
Here's the good news: in all the upheaval, we've been able to salvage all 15 tracks of the original album (the one that got away) and despite our inability to play any shows right now, we're going to be previewing the songs for you - the
rough mixes, for now - right here, on our newly redesigned site.
In addition, we'll be sharing the cover art, bits that didn't make the final cut, and the four of us will be dropping in occasionally and writing blogs.
As our fans (that's you) have always showed us such support, once the album is in its final form - which, and this is a promise,
will be before Christmas - we'll be streaming the entire thing at the Official Dash Eight site (www.dasheight.com) as well as make it available for a free, full download.
Of course, if you want to throw something our way for it, there'll be a Pay Pal account set up as well, to use at your discretion - but you don't have to. ;-)
This is our way of saying thank you to everybody, and well, to prove to you that we actually were making a record two years ago.
So let us know what you think of these old tunes that never saw the light of day. We over-produced a few, spent too much time on some, and too little on others, while some we did pretty right by.
"Hollows" (the song in the player now), we did pretty right by. The strings may be a bit over-baked, but they'll be brought down in the final version. For those of you who saw us play it live, we hope what we did with it sounds good to you.
So, all you Dash Eight folks out there, let us know what you think of the album that never was. I'll be uploading a new rough mix from it every week ("Hollows", the present song, will be here for two), so keep checking back...
...and we'll keep the light on.
Gratefully,
Adam,
Chris, Chuck and Curtis
