What the heck is browngrass?
This is a term I coined a few years back when I was one half of the accoustic super-duo "Tilt & Bard". People would ask me what kind of music we played & I would have to go on this long disertation to try to describe it & unless they were fans of the genre they walked away more confused than before. So we started calling in browngrass. Kinda like bluegrass - but not. My mandolin plugged in so that automatically disqualified me from authentic bluegrass. Plus God did not see fit to bless me with that "High & lonesome sound that bluegrass music requires" (thank you REK). So I'll just keep trucking along with my raspy baritone & hope a good harmony singer comes along some day. (Sorry Bryan). But most important it (this music) originates in a place where we are lucky if the grass is green for more than one month a year, much less blue. Hence the name "Browngrass". Enjoy.
