Leader..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

By Davin Williams aka Empty

Verse 1

Show me that you know what you’re doin’ and I’ll listen then,

Speak they’ll probably listen man, probably give a hand,

Show me something to look for, spark my interest,

Make me want to invest my time and patience

Pre-Chorus

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give

I’ve been conditioned, tioned,

(This is how the majority live)

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give,

I’ve been conditioned, tioned

(But now I’m watchin’ you)

Chorus

(Leader) I’ve got my eye, (Leader) on you,

(Leader)watchin’ your every move

(Leader) What you do I will too

Chorus 2

Lead us (Lead us)

We need ya

(Could you be a leader?)

Verse 2

Give me motivation, to get me through

The troubles I go through, I won’t say when I need you

Don’t you ever, never,

Give up on, on me no, no no no

Pre-Chorus

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give

I’ve been conditioned, tioned,

(This is how the majority live)

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give,

I’ve been conditioned, tioned

(But now I’m watchin’ you)

Chorus

(Leader) I’ve got my eye, (Leader) on you,

(Leader)watchin’ your every move

(Leader) What you do I will too

Chorus 2

Lead us (Lead us)

We need ya

(Could you be a leader?)

Verse 3

La, da, da,da…Oh ah

"The speed of the Leader determines the rate of the pack…"

ha

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it’s a matter of choice…"

I know I’m not rhyming right now but who cares

"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity…"

you know and

"Things may come to those who wait but only the things left by those who hustle"

Abraham Lincoln said that…HEY

Pre-Chorus

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give

I’ve been conditioned, tioned,

(This is how the majority live)

I don’t mean to take, take, but, um, could you give, give,

I’ve been conditioned, tioned

(But now I’m watchin’ you)

Chorus

(Leader) I’ve got my eye, (Leader) on you,

(Leader)watchin’ your every move

(Leader) What you do I will too

Outro

Hey…I got a question if all you see is negativity where do you think you’ll be…

You’ll be over there with them…

But I’ve learned that, Success Is Not An Accident…you know that’s the name of a book Tommy Newberry wrote it, that’s the author but uh I’m just saying they said

"Success happens to specific people for specific reasons!" People set goals

Come on you gotta plan everything out, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" "Knowledge is Power" get out there and go read!

Bonus: Explanation for the song

I’ll answer questions for the imaginary reporter interviewing me over this unexpected turn in the music industry…ha ha.

She’ll interview me about how after this song hit the radio stations, music was changed forever and the world became a positive place.

She’s interviewing me about how the credit card companies stopped badgering high school students with credit card offers (they know that most high school students don’t focus on financial education, they’re going to go buy clothes and all kinds of liabilities and then are stuck with thousands of dollars in debt that linger "forever").

The interview would be broadcast all over the world and then I would get to speak up and educate my young people.

   (I can dream, right?) ha

Q&A

  1. Why did you write the song? What was the inspiration behind the song?
    a. Well basically when 2008 started, I thought this year has to be different. I didn’t set any resolutions or nothing because they don’t work for me (and most people). So in the first week of January I was looking at books (the kind of books young people don’t look for) and saw a book titled "The ABC’s of Making Money" by Dr. Denis L. Cauvier and Alan Lysaght. I bought it (who doesn’t want to know the fundamentals of making money?). That book introduced me to new thinking. It talked about how people are living in the "Rat Race" and how we live above our means (don’t let me get started writing the summary here…ha).

Anyway, one book lead to another (eventually to "Success Is Not an Accident") and I adopted the thought that ’if you want to succeed to your greatest potential you have to help the world’. So this is my first step.

  2. Who is the song about?
    b. Um I might have to break it down because I wrote from real experiences and many people.

Well Verse 1…lines one and two come from two events.

First I wrote it thinking about how every time I approach my mama with these thoughts about retirement and financial freedom, she says "once you start footin’ the bills, then you can tell me what to do…"
That stemmed the first line, "Show me that you know what you’re and I listen then". Line two comes from my mother’s support of being a singer (or artist..ha)…she believes in my music and performances so she says ’go for it’. That bred "Speak they’ll probably listen, man, probably give a hand.."
But the other way I looked at that line as I wrote was how I took on all these authors as my role models. I’m basically saying, "I’m going to study you and if you live as good as you say, I’ll follow your steps". (Chinese proverb: to know the road ahead, ask those coming back). That’s basically how the rest of the 1st verse was formed.

       Pre-chorus

…aw man that was the easiest part because I’ve been studying Marketing (with Self…ha) and I’ve learned so much about advertisements and stores and credit bureaus and how "they’ve" raised us. ’Consumers’ are exposed to THOUSANDS of marketing ads a day and that’s how some of the habits that we have now came about.
Example…I ’had’ a ’thing’ for Little Debbie’s Honey Buns. I would go to the convenient store and grab a good eight at a time (eating em all in one day!). They made me believe that those were good and that they were cheap…ha ha. Well let’s look at it like this (I’m grabbing my calculator), if I bought 8 (honey buns) for about $0.37 each, that’s $2.96. Basically three bucks for a few snacks, when you can buy a loaf of bread, some peanut butter, and jelly for three bucks that will last for about a week (it’ll last longer if you’re the frugal type). If I spent that twice a week for a month, that would amount to about $6 a week or about $24 a month! On junk food.
Anyway, bad habits lead to more bigger, "badder" habits and then debt follows. So, I wrote that part thinking of the people who are always looking to borrow money or are trying to get a free ride.

       Chorus and Chorus 2

The choruses are my favorite parts of the song because I wrote ’em thinking about the most important people on earth. The children. Children watch everything that the ’grown-ups’ do. They learn from adults. They imitate adults. They admire adults so why don’t we admire them back? Leave them with a better world than what we had to go through?
"I’ve got my eye on you, watchin’ your every move, what you do I will too." Kids tell us that every day, just not in the form of words…
"Lead us, lead us, we need ya."

    Verse 2

I look at teenagers now and see a bunch of lost souls with no guidance (except for BET and other cable networks that will drink the money out of their pockets, the intelligence out of their minds, and the purity ’off’ of their bodies. We have young teens that are mothers, fathers, inmates, homicide victims, drug abusers and all kinds of other things. It’s not really their faults (tip: Take 100% responsibility for your life starting now and you shall succeed).
"Give me motivation, to get me through the troubles I go through."
The line that hit me was "I won’t say when I need you" because it’s so real! Now days, teens tell their friends more stuff than they tell their parents. No bonding anymore I guess. They need you.

    Verse 3 and Outro

I just wanted to try and give some inspirational messages. I read a few motivational quotes off of pages. I’m always sharing motivational quotes! (MQ: You can only make others better by being good yourself…)

  3. Anything else you want to let the 20 billions viewers know? (Still dreaming big…ha ha.)

I guess I could sign off with another motivational quote…

"MANAGERS DO THINGS RIGHT, WHILE LEADERS DO THE RIGHT THINGS."

Do the right things and do things right.
