Eva Hunter

Fans say it’s the immediacy in her eyes, honesty of her voice, and
her hauntingly poignant songs that make Eva
Hunter a truly unique and powerful performer. They describe her as having
the raw emotion of Janis Joplin, the growl of Melissa Ethridge, and yet the
tenderness of Jewel. While possibly best categorized as a singer-songwriter, Hunter’s music fuses elements of country, folk, and orchestrated rock, as her alluring voice glides from a raspy whisper
to a gospel-like boom.
In fifteen years of
touring, Eva has opened for acclaimed artists such as Roger McGuinn of The
Byrds, Nashville’s The Floating Men, Austin songwriter Eric Taylor, Warner-
Chappel’s Jeff Black, Anna Fermin’s Trigger Gospel, Celtic-rock act Seven
Nations, and Germany’s album charter’s Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Growing up
in a small town outside of Springfield, IL, Eva started performing at the age
of eight with her three sisters, traveling throughout Illinois as a doo-wop
group and appearing at various events, fairs and festivals. By the time
she was out high school, she had taught herself to play guitar and started
writing songs. After five years of performing locally, Eva got the
opportunity to tour with popular Nashville based band The Floating Men for seven years winning
over audiences in cities such as Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta. While at home, Hunter started putting together a band and playing with top artists in the area, many of which are featured on her studio albums.
Hunter announced the
release of her third studio album entitled No
Missing Pieces in July of 2009, her fifth CD overall since 2000,
which features her Springfield, IL based band and some special
guests. While equally as lush as her previous efforts, comparatively No Missing Pieces is more stripped down.
It highlights the core band and delivers a studio album with the simplicity of
a live one. Lyrically, it’s a progression from the mood of her second
studio release, Thirsty, which
focused on turmoil and desire. No Missing
Pieces is more uplifting with themes of discovery and contentment.

By the close of 2009, the album will be available at major music sites like
CdBaby and iTunes. Currently it can be downloaded at digstation.com.
