Well Howdy Folks! The dust has settled and the smoke has cleared and what do you know? It's 2009! How the heck did that happen? Well I sure hope you've all had a relaxing and/or celebratory holiday. The days are getting longer - spring is just around the corner! HUZZAH!!!
Stewed Roots had a grand and exciting 2008 - the new CD came out in the Spring - we've had nice comments and reviews, and airplay 'round the globe! Found out PBS radio picked us up, and we've had airplay in Australia! not to mention Belgium, Israel, Great Britain...and Saskatchewan! We also ventured out beyond our usual haunts in St. Catharines and Toronto and had a great time in South River and Oakville and sure hope to continue that adventuresome trend in '09. We want to thank you all - old friends and new- for all your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm - we surely do appreciate it!
We have a couple of gigs to tell you about that we hope to see y'all at:
St. Catharines - Saturday, January 17th , 2:00 - 5:00pm
"sessions at seventy-three"
73 St. Paul Street
PWYC
This space is not licensed for alcohol, but please drop by for a cup o'tea or some java and have a listen. We'll be playing the usual plus working out some new stuff in this relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
Toronto - Saturday, January 24th, 9:00 - 12:00am
The Renaissance Cafe
1938 Danforth Avenue (north side, west of Woodbine)
A shared evening with Sam Turton and friends
PWYC
We're back in the Big Smoke at the good ol' Renaissance Cafe. We'll be starting the evening at the crack o' Nine O'clock for a nice long Stewed Set. Sam and his lovely entourage will be taking the stage for the second set, then we will be combining forces for a mass sing-a-long hootnannie where I try desperately to remember the words to 'The Weight'. Sam is a WONDERFUL musician, and if you haven't heard him, you should. Blues, gospel, roots - terrific stuff, fabulous harmonies...check out www.myspace.com/samturtonmusic
OK - I guess that's it fer now...Thanks again for your support - if you have any questions, comments, complaints, concerns - you just let me know! If you know of anyone who'd be interested in Stewed Roots - please feel free to pass this little missive along.
CHEERS! Jeff Hale (for Stewed Roots)
