Who Gives Kudos:

October 29, 2009 - Thursday

Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
My wife and I just got home from an afternoon showing of This Is It - just in time to see the World Series, but I wanted to write this first.

What a wonderful, heartfelt, inspiring, original movie. All of it was great, here are some of the highights for me:

.Michael Jackson and Mekia Cox dancing a kick-ass, erotic The Way You Make Me Feel - and seeing how much the other dancers and singers were enjoying how much Michael was getting in it. This was one of the inspiring threads throughout the movie - the faces of performers working with Jackson.

.Michael Jackson and Judith Hill singing "I Can't Stop Loving You," the two of them riffing at the end, and Michael saying afterward that he shouldn't be encouraged like that - "I have to conserve my throat"

.Michael Jackson explaining to keyboard man Michael Bearden that MJ wants the music to sound just the way the audience expects it (how many times have you been annoyed or disappointed by a current rendition that doesn't sound enough like the original?)

.all the Jackson Five numbers, which didn't sound exactly like the originals, but were still superb and brought tears to me eyes

.any time Orianthi, the blondly brilliant guitarist, was in the scene ... especially when Michael and she did "Black and White"

The World Series is starting in a few minutes, so I'm logging off now. As MJ said after one his numbers, I just wanted to give you a taste.

But go see this movie when you can. Unlike Elvis and John Lennon, who tragically died with months of a vibrant rehearsals on tape, Michael left us these incredible, indelible performances. Kudos to Kenny Ortega and everyone else for bringing to us.

I went to see Michael Jackson's This Is It, yesterday too and found it so poignant and bitter-sweet.

It was so wonderful to see MJ performing again one last time and so inspiring to see him working on and perfecting what was due to be both his triumphant return to the stage and also his final farwell concerts. In spite of what some critics were predicting, it is clear from the film that This Is It would have been an absolutely amazing show!!

It is so sad that after preparing for months Michael didn't get to perform This Is It live even once. As he says himself in the film he was saving his voice and what we see in this rehearsal footage is Michael performing at maybe 30%, it's such a shame he didn't get to do any of the London concerts where he would have given it everything he's got and would have been performing at 110%! It would have been incredible and just what the world needs at this time.

Never the less This Is It the film does give us enough of a taste of what the concerts would have been like to reconfirm the fact that Michael Jackson truly was and always will be the King of Pop, a true genius whose music and performances will live on forever.

And in its own right the film, which I though was brilliantly put together by Kenny Ortega, stands up as a fascinating and wonderful insight into the brilliance and humanity of the man, the mega-star, Michael Jackson.

....Firstly, excuse my poor English.
And thank you for writing and sharing this wonderful blog......... ......I went to watch Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' and couldn't stop crying...
I had a various feeling in my heart and it was a bit hard to express one's feelings in words...
When the film finished I couldn't stand up in a daze for a few seconds...
It felt like I'm still in a dream......... ......Anyone have often to listen to many tragic stories of all over the world... It's just a part of life...
If you can watch the film, you can get free from your troubles....... ......What I mean to say is that he gives us such a wonderful world......... ......A fantasy world, dreams and hopes...
He have the power to change the reality of the world......... ......It seems that he have had quite a big effect.
That is to say, I was greatly influenced from him... his death......... ......Many fans were believing and waiting for him to come back...
Real Music... Real performance...  Authentic costumes... Real Stage... Faultless performance!...... ......Who would've thought which set clothes on fire so far? ^^;...... ......His passion for creating live performance...  painfully-stimulated....... ......A difference of the length of the sound that is slight from the point of his head to a tiptoe and a difference of the movement, a timing! ...... ......There is no one else.
What only Michael understands.
You're the only one, Michael!
He does not look a day over 30 for me!........He was trying to make an effort for faultless performance!........I'm so touched. :').......... ......"I Can't Stop Loving You"...... ......All dancer... all staff were clapping......... ......"Don't let me sing fully...:')"...... ......"I have to conserve my throat..."...... ......"You can sing if you want..."...... ......(Sorry, I can't understand English clearly yet...)...... ......"No...no...I have to..."...... ......He let me smile... at the scene... Cute! :'p.......... ......He really knows what a fan expects very well hisself.
So, he try to make an effort for faultless performance........... ......When a dancer and a staff are talking about Michael, they  floated tears while talking...........Michael is such a great person for them.........Me too, I'm so touched........... ......He is the great person.
KING.
But he never forget humility.
Even if he is the person who is great for all......... ......"Thank you..."
"I am Sorry..."
"I appreciate ~ "
and
"I Love You..."...... ......And he was talking when he made a circle with them by the rehearsal of the London live performance. ...... ......About this 'Earth'......... ......He is  always thinking everyone's happiness...
It's not only the happiness of hisself and his family.
He always looks at ahead (The future)....... ......"It's always wise to look ahead, but difficult to look further than you can see. -Sir Winston Churchill".......... ......I was not able to readily accept his death.
Even if I live in the world different from him.
I don't know his glory(his most splendid time).
Even if 'Thriller' made a big hit universally, I was not yet born.
So, I didn't know him very well.
But my special person invited me to such his wonderful world.
Thank you James... :').......... ......I'm sorry... talked too much.........But I wanted to tell something............. ......He shouldn't have died......... ......But......... ......He is alive in my heart...forever............. ......M ' I LOVE YOU '...........I love you too... :')
