A recent dispatch from the Shane Corey, Executive Director of the Libertarian National Committee,  shows that the effect of the Ron Paul Revolution have been heard loud and clear.McCorey says "In no way, shape or form, can I ignore the positive impact Dr. Paul's campaign is making on America.  I'm not asking you to do that either."  With all the support for the libertarian (notice the little l) candidate, it has to be exciting.....If only he were a Libertarian candidate.  It begs the question

Is Ron Paul A Blessing Or A Curse To The LP

One things for sure. If Ron Paul runs as an independent or with the Constitution party, the lp's 2008 presidential campaign is gone.  Even if Ron Paul doesn't decide to continue to run after the GOP process is complete, many people will support a Ron Paul write-in-campaign (here's my Write In Ron Paul website, just in case)But if you want to look at the long term effect the "Ron Paul Revolution" will have on the LP, and libertarian thought in general, the picture is much brighter. Most libertarians that support Ron Paul, and Ron Paul supporters in general know that even if Ron Paul was elected, we'd only be about 35% of the way to a total reformation of our government.  I don't see Senator Clinton (D-NY) or Chambliss (R-GA) supporting President Paul's foreign policy, or 5 Supreme Court Justices to support his policies on social issues. These people need to have somewhere to call home when 2008 written into the history books.

Ron Paul Revolution: Next Stop - Local Politics

All politics are local, and people will be voting for county surveyor along with President. Many people who've never voted before will likely vote for, or write-in Ron Paul. Are these people going to tow the political line on other races? I think not.  Many people are going to take this opportunity to vote for any candidate that they think will help change the way our government works, and the way we look at government.  Libertarian candidates usually fit that bill.We have an opportunity, in 2008 as libertarians to really start the change we've been talking about in government for years. An opportunity that starts locally.  The opportunity the LP has been waiting for since its inception.  One that can piggy-back on Dr. Paul's success, and facilitate his supporters in 2008, 2009, 2020 and beyond.

Ron Paul has no chance of getting the nomination because he has little support among Republican voters. He would probably have been better off running as an independent.

Ron Paul's foreign policy is a dangerous example of 1939 policies.

Its funny, you have a picture of Washington, who said in his farewell address that we should avoid tangling alliances, and that we should trade with all and ally with none.

You just called that dangerous.

I beg you to step back and evaluate the foreign policy that has led us down the road of perpetual war, you know, with tangling alliances.

Yes sir I am aware of what Washington said, and that was good advice in his time. The problem is that this is not 1799 anymore. The world is a vastly different place than it was 200 years ago. Sadly 50 million people had to die between 1939-1945 to prove my point. What I am saying is that technology, and massive population growth, have made the world a much more dangerous place. All it would take is a few million dollars and the push of a button for an American city to be destroyed by some wacko.

I personally know quite a few people that were registered either Dem. or Rep. and have choosen to support Ron Paul and after the primaries are switching their party to Libertarian. I am one of those very people. I think it has brought the attention to people that are fed up with the status quo and therefore brought the attention to the Libertarian party since many link Ron Paul with the party indirectly. These same people say that if Dr. Paul doesn't win the GOP nomination, decides not to run 3rd party and a write in is an option they will be voting for a Libertarian candidate since their is not a candidate running in either the Dem. or Rep. party that they would through their support behind.
I definitely think that local politics will benefit greatly from the change in mindset of the American people. I for one want to see more Libertarian choices and more independent voices. People need to find the candidate that is running that supports and upholds the Constitution regardless of party though. America NEEDS to get away from the current 2 party system. Wouldn't politics and voting be interesting if people ran on policies without the umbrella of any party. Where would people REALLY stand if not defined by party?

Ron Paul is the last chance the voters in this country will ever have to do the right thing.

Good, bad, right, wrong, blessing, curse: Ron Paul is the ONLY hope we have for getting even a "35%" foothold in the Federal Government. If the LP is smart, they'll "put down their weapons" and endorse a "Draft Ron Paul" campaign, especially if he doesn't get the G.O.P. nomination. The boost it would be to have Ron Paul in his current status as the LP candidate may force the first serious 3-way Presidential race we've had since 1992...or perhaps the first serious one in modern history! The boost to the LP would be immense in terms of educational, membership, and financial value, and speaking of local races, it would definitely be the best chance to piggy-back and produce a "win" regardless of whether Dr. Paul gets in the White House in '08.

Mike Gravel, Mary Ruwart or Bob Barr are even more libertarian than Ron Paul and could be better Presidents as well. "None of the above"' in this race is NOT http://TheCorrectAnswer.com. Listen in tomorrow between noon and 1pm for a conversation with Mary Ruwart. This and other interviews archived at TheCorrectAnswer.com
