Current mood: awake
dear everyone, i'm still alive and well. of course, as is my usual course of action, i must guarantee you all that i have been hard at work on bringing new stuff to you all... there's new videos coming, as well as new music... but i wanted to bring some attention to the new 'thing' i just added to my website -- over at www.theweaselkingmusic.com, i've just recently added a new feature: the red hair remix project, which is basically a collection of 7 submixed tracks that make up my song, red hair... and they're there for you all to download and remix or use in whatever way you feel like. basically, i put all the drums on one track, all the vocals on one, all the guitars on one, etc... so you can really have some fun with them. all 7 of tracks start at the beginning of the song and roll until the end, so there's a good deal of dead space in some of them, but if you layer all 7 together in your multitrack software of choice, you should be able to simply hit play and they'll all line up. naturally, that's just the start for most of you... i'm counting on everyone to have fun with the tracks and then send me (or post online) your remixes. i'll post my favorites on the website and if you guys get really into it, i'd be more than happy to offer more songs eventually... so let me know.
now, onto my new song, "they can't catch us all", which has been up for a good month now, but i feel the need to say a few things about it. first of all, in case anyone is still wondering, it's about the moment in book 5 when the DA is discovered in the room of requirement. harry's line "what are you waiting for? run!" always gave me goosebumps so i figured it deserved an energetic romp of a song. originally, i set out to write about dumbledore's escape from his office moments later, which is probably one of my favorite moments in the books, but this idea kind of forced itself upon me. i realized i had to write about that line... the chaos waiting there was too much to pass up. ANYWAY, i'm pretty excited about getting to use some chimes in a song. they really pound that intro out... and i think they mark the power this moment had in that particular book. throughout the song, i tried to keep tossing in little moments that sound like the drums and/or guitars are 'tripping' to try and paint this picture of the madness of that mass exodus... the DA running to get away, the inquisitorial squad hot on their heels. the softness of the bridge was intended to represent the conversation that followed the chase, in dumbledore's office. I like to think of the last chorus as dumbledore's escape... almost as if he heard harry's plea to 'run' and he's making a dash now too. so... that's about it... for now anyway. for now. i hope you're all well...
