Saturday, July 18 at 7PM: Matthew Fox discusses healthy male spirituality as he challenges men, and the women who love them, to open our minds to a deeper understanding of the healthy masculine than that which we receive from media, culture, and religions. Following the talk, Mr. Fox will sign copies of his new book, The Hidden Spirituality of Men. This should be a big event, so come early to get a good seat!

 

Other News: Come downtown this weekend to attend the Southern Highland Guild Craft Fair at the Civic Center. A perfect opportunity to view the beautiful work of the craftspeople of our region.

 

Sadly, the day got away from me before I could select a poem for this week, but I do hope you make time for poetry in your life every day, if only in the poetry of your thoughts as you spend time enjoying the beauty of our mountains in high summer, or as you gaze upon the face of someone you love. I am always moved by the magic of fireflies lighting up the sky like fairylights during summer evenings. My husband and I often sit out on the porch at night, in darkness except for a votive candle flickering on the railing, and watch the fireflies blink on and off in the woods. It can be like watching fireworks, as we gasp at and quietly applaud the continuous display.
