Friday, September 11 at 7PM:
Josh Weil will present his book, The New Valley, a collection of linked novellas about the relationships of three very different protagonists who forge new lives for themselves in the rugged hill country of the Virginias.
 
Saturday, September 12
2PM: Keith Donnelly will sign copies of his new book, Three Days Dead, the latest addition to the Donald Youngblood mystery series. Youngblood, a private investigator, must help a troubled teen find her missing mother while dealing with complications from a past relationship.
7PM: Stuart Albright will present Sidelines, a fascinating look at high school football and how it has shaped and supported nine North Carolina communities. Asheville and Cherokee are two of the featured communities, so be sure to welcome the fall season with this wonderful event!
 
Sunday, September 13
1PM: Reif Larsen  presents his bestselling novel, The Selected Works of T. S. Spivet, a community and staff favorite choice, too! Larsen currently teaches at Columbia University where he is finishing his MFA in creative writing and working on his second novel.
3PM: Poetrio: 3 Readings by 3 Poets. Join us for this month’s popular Poetrio readings by  John Hoppenthaler, Terry Kirby Erickson and Linda Annas Ferguson.
 
Monday, September 14 at 7PM:
Stitch-N-Bitch. Join crafty host Stacey Budge-Kamison for Malaprop's monthly Stitch-N-Bitch. Bring your current projects, settle down with a warm cup of tea or coffee, and talk shop with some fabulous people! Crafters of all levels are welcome and selected craft books will be discounted.

Tuesday, September 15 at 7PM: Literary Trivia Night! Booker prize winner John Banville has authored books under what pseudonym? Which recent NYT bestseller combines the refined sensibilities of Jane Austen with the horrific comedy of the undead? Find out these answers and more at Malaprop's Literary Trivia night with hostesses Lauren and Stella Harr! You can bring friends to form a team or be a team of one, but don't be shy about coming to this very popular and fun time.
 
Wednesday, September 16 at 7PM:
Teacher Salon. Malaprop's is reserving her café space for educators of all levels, including homeschoolers, to meet and discuss lesson plans, classroom activities, and ideas for stress relief. Teachers, please come by for free coffee and bonding with your colleagues.
 
Thursday, September 17 at 5:30PM:
Women on Words. New Members are always welcome to our monthly women's poetry group. Women on Words is a gathering where members inspire and critique the presented poems.
 
Other News: 
 
The 4th annual Carolina Mountains Literary Festival happens on the 11th & 12th of September in Burnsville, North Carolina.  Over 40 authors will participate including Ann Pancake, John Hoppenthaler, Rob Amburg, Jim Clark, Robert Conley, Dr. Gloria Houston, Eleanora Tate, Wayne Winkler, Alan Gratz and Judy Goldman.  Events for children are planned for Saturday.  With more than 80 sessions all devoted to the love of reading, there will be something for everyone.  There is no charge to attend.
 
Malaprop's is excited to once again be the official bookseller for this festival. The weather should be nice, and the setting is lovely, so drive out to Burnsville's Town Center and be a part of this special event.

Good news! We have an update regarding Barbara Kingsolver's event on
Monday, November 2nd. The event will still take place at 7pm, with
doors opening at 6:15, but the venue has changed. It will now be held
at the Asheville High School auditorium. Asheville High School is
located at 419 McDowell Street with parking in the school's lots on
Victoria Road.
 
A ticket to the event is complimentary with your pre-paid order of
Barbara's new book THE LACUNA. Please call us rather than emailing to

Tickets are still available to attend our event on Sunday, September 27 at 7PM with Diana Gabaldon at the Diana Wortham Theatre at 2 Pack Square.
