There is always ONE question, among many, that comes up first and foremost when the conversation swings to the paranormal.

Do you believe in ghosts?

How do I define a "ghost," or spiritual entity - the energy that our human bodies were once comprised of. Energy cannot be destroyed, so once we no longer need our human form, what is left is energy, spirit matter - or in easy to understand terms - a ghost.

Do I believe in them?

Yes.

In this blog here, I talk of  two events that really opened my eyes to start paying attention to what was around me. Even though I had been seeing "strange" things since I was very young, the two stories in that post started me on my journey to learning, "what comes next."

Photo taken at the Omni Parker Hotel in Boston.
There is a window, with a white curtin. The window was nailed shut and the A/C was not working. I did not jiggle the camera so there is  no "physical" reason for it to be moving. You can see the reflection of the curtain in the mirror to the left... but what always disturbed me and eventually led me to cleanse the room, was the dark shape between the window and the mirror... the walls were bright white and that is what should be there, like at the bottom of the photo - it wasn't dark enough in the room to cause a shadow, that I am aware of... so it's just another story in my vault of oddities.

So, let me ask you - Do you believe in ghosts?
If so, why?

Peace
~Christy

Yes and No... Yes as far as the Spirit energy transforming and No so far as interaction in our space-time. Yes that remnant "vibrations" (for lack of a better term) can resonate. No that Aunt Martha that passed away in 1963 can be seen knitting on her rocking chair. Yes that some parallel existence could infact create a sort of "shadow" effect being ever so slightly out of phase with us. No you're not gonna get pushed down the stairs by a murdered child molestor... Then again, that's just my opinion and I try to keep an open mind. In fact, of those who will probably answer this, I've likely done the least amount of research. Again, parallel universe, out of phase stuff Yes, spooky goblins rattling chains..no.

Residual hauntings then... like a movie, so to speak... most people think they occur when something very quick, or violent or both happens, causing the moment to imprint itself in the area, like a tape player... sometimes it replays daily, or on an anniversary or when something sets it off.... there is also talk that maybe after awhile, they slowly fade like a tape... until finally they are gone...

Because I have never "felt" something push me or what not, I can't say I do or don't believe in it - but I'll leave my mind open, I just hope it doesn't fall out.

And it's answers like yours I want as well - because of that very reason, you haven't gone researching... you just answered it from your own brain.

thank you <3

The only "spirits" I believe in are of the "distilled" variety....does that count? Actually, I've never seen a ghost (except for the Casper type) and I don't believe in what I cannot see...that explanation has put me at odds with the electric company. LOL

that is fantastic - I love that - it really isn't easy to pin down exactly what or who they are - I mean we can give them definitions and a sort of ideal of what they are doing here - but until we go, we won't know for sure... but our experiences can really open some eyes - and close some too, if it's a bad one... and yeah, I think a lot is based on what we believe or are brought up to believe if we don't question it.

Peace YOU <3

Yes I do believe in Ghost ( sprits) Good and Bad. I have personally seen them myself growing up as my familly has to. I have personally seen the good and the very bad. The scariest about a year ago which i will not go into details here but if you wish to know feel free to contact me. It was an eye opening exsperience. My 5 year old is very open to the otherside to which i do not hinder. Pictures are pictures but seeing is believeing and I have seen and do believe.

God Bless,

Thank you for your honesty Laura - you mentioned something really important too - seeing and being there is what really matters - you know what you saw or heard - pictures and tapes may not catch that - but your mind and heart did - and that is one of the biggest reasons why I do believe. I may have this little skeptical side to me, which is good - but there is a part that knows, from experience that science can explain a lot, but my heart can explain it better.

Blessings!

Yes I do believe for not only have I got pictures I also have had many encounters starting as a very young child.

About a year ago I had a very powerful encounter with a ghost. Others would say I was attacked because I flew into the air and hit the wall behind me and fell to the ground. I do not believe this was an attack for I believe that the ghost/energy is tring to make contect to get a message across and when they do at times the engergy levels on both sides is very high and when thier world meet ours things like flying in the air can happen, they don't mean to hurt us it like to speeding cars crashing into eachother.

This is why it's very important for us to be grounded at all times, but just because you're grounded doesn't mean that nothing isn't going to happen but it will soften the blow.

that was something I often wondered about - energy levels... because I have never personally felt a "evil" force... what if the energy was just really trying to get your attention and it was a case of "not knowing it's own energy capability" there is a lot of ground to cover and learn about - I am glad that many people are trying too - and yes, staying grounded is so important, much like an opening blessing before doing any investigating.

thank you Nancy!

Yes. As a child saw and felt things that used to scare the crap out of me. Watched a cowled monk stroll through my bedroom and through the door to our attic. Felt a presence in my bedroom upon waking that had me shivering under the covers until I could work up the nerve to bolt from my room. My understanding is that we live many lifetimes and they all happen simultaneously though we experience the here and now as linear.

The monk? A focus of mine making himself known to me. Perhaps some of our ghosts are just a slipping sideways to see things we might not normally see.

During a particularly depressed time in my life saw a man standing beside me in black pants, tall leather boots and a ruffled white shirt, the lace falling over his wrists. The feeling I got from him was that if I wanted to leave and was ready it was going to be okay.

Ghost? Hallucination? Lunacy? I just think it's real or as real as one is prepared to accept.

there is a theory that we tend to see ghosts when we are in a very relaxed to "dreamy" state of mind.. when sleeping or doing the mundane, our minds slip away and we can notice things we may not when we are trying to - I wonder if that is why we see them less when we are actively looking for them...

I do believe in spiritual entities. I was on vacation in Gettysburg, PA .... mid July with temperatures around the mid 80's. I got out of my vehicle and walked down to the wall on Cemetary Ridge and sat down. As I was sitting there in awe of the openess of the area as Pickett made his charge on the union soldiers entrenched there. I suddenly felt cold and I noticed the smell of sulfur. I looked around and there was no one within 150 yards of me. I sat there for about a minute and the smell did not go away, nor did the cold feeling. I finally got up, walked back to my truck and left.

I believed in them before this, this event only cemented my belief. Just because you cannot see it or explain it, does not mean it does not exist.

ok, I gotta ask, what part scares you, believing or what you have seen to make you believe...

I was scared of the things I felt as a child, but having studied what the phenomenon was, I know what happened and while it still is a freaky thing, I understand it.. I have a blog on it coming up... since I know others have had to have felt it as well.

The room the first night felt fine but the second day felt horrible and oppressive with too many negative feelings, so I cleansed it using the elements (incense, salt water -luckily my french fries from room service came with sea salt - candles for fire) I used each to cleanse the rooms and windows and asked that all negative beings leave...

I never felt threatened or I probably would have changed rooms, but sometimes a room can gather up a feeling, like a negative shock charge that that needs to be released.

I like your two cents worth!! <3

I do believe that there is something there at times. I know that since the death of my dear Grandmother over 25 yrs now, I sometimes feel her with me not so much a physical form nut I feel her and at times can smell her old rosey perfume. It's one of those things at times that you think you see some shadow move but it soo fast you diimiss it~if you know what I mean.
But I just know she is here and at times I seem to need her the most. I am open minded when it comes to this and do not dimiss it. I look forward to seeing other's answers here. But as for me I believe that there is something out there not sure what I call it though.
Have a great day Christy!

Yes, I do believe in ghosts. I think more often than not, it is the energy imprint as has been mentioned in the comments. Sometimes it may be an actual individual who is "stuck" on this plane instead of moving on. Last Oct. we took a ghost tour of Lincoln which was fun. I also have the books "The Ghosts of Lincoln". I do not know that I have experienced any ghosts. I lived across the street from one of the ones mentioned in the book and on the tour. This is a park where a ghost has been seen over the years, usually bouncing along as a ball. My bedroom window faced the park and from there I could see one of the spots that the ghost was later seen (after I had moved out). I never saw a thing and I did look for it many times at night. I and 2 friends even took a walk through it at night and saw nothing. I don't think I am that sensitive to it. My wife had a ghost in her childhood home. She heard the ghost. Her brother actually saw and talked with him.

the energy imprint seems to be a big "food for thought" reason - and it makes sense too - because where does the energy go? I guess depending on what you believe a heaven or hell or maybe it just reincarnates or stays here in various forms. Lincoln had several experiences himself with mirrors and dreams... one about his death as well.

lilli,

Yes, I most certainly do. I owned a house in California for almost 20 years that was some sort of "haunted". Appliances turned on by themselves. We had an organ that would say, clear as day, in a female voice..."Talk to me, please, someone, talk to me," over and over, even when unplugged. The children's balls, often would bounce, on their own, up the little hill of the driveway, then bounce way high to the roof of the garage, and, back down the driveway, again. No one ever wanted to go into the basement, especially, none of the dogs. Three cats disappeared there....but, we could hear them meowing. We called animal control to see if somehow they'd become trapped in an outside basement wall, or, something. In each case, animal control said no cat was trapped anywhere. Day by day the meows would grow fainter, until they just faded. Some of this stuff frightened the children....but, we kept the house, because it was home. There had been a suicide there, in 1926.
Always,
lilli

She was the mother in law of the gentleman who originally built the house. She was from Portugal. He built a little 2 bedroom cottage in back of the big house. She killed herself, because he moved her into it. And, she was catholic.

Yes, I believe. That picture is very interesting, and I'm like you...that shadow should not be there..weird.
My dad told me a few good stories about when he was growing up, and the things he saw...creepy to say the least, and yes, he believed too.
One I'll mention, he was about 13 years old, and the houe they lived in was the oldest in the neighborhood, and used to have slaves or some such thing. Anyway, it was summer and hot, no AC back then, and he would sleep on the front living room couch under the windows.
One night this shadow...shape of a man, came down the hall towards him. He laid there frozen and watching. the thing stood over him and looked out the window, turned, went back down the hallway and disappeared. He said it scared the hell out of him.

Well, that's one of many...Love you sis!!!!

Yes, I believe. I grew up in a trailer that was haunted by several things. When my parents took the trailer out and put in a house, the house is now haunted.

So, now I live in a house built in th 1850s. It used to be a viewing parlor. Yes, it's haunted. There is a soldier, my husbands granparents, a teen boy, and girl about 10 and a boy about 12 who all run around this house. There's an old cemetery several yards from the house that is 90% little children because of a fever that swept he area during the late 1800s.

I used to hear a man and a woman talking late at night in the house I grew up in, which was a very old house. I would look for them but they were never visible (and I checked everywhere) - all I saw was my family sleeping. Once when I was in my twenties I felt something very oppressive in the room where I was lying down....my cat freaked out and ran out of the room.....she was lying on top of me before she freaked and I literally felt the hair on her back raise up....she growled too and she wasn't one to be growling unless she had a reason. I saw some black energy float over me and got a cold chill right after she ran out of the room....then it was gone. So I would say that ghosts exist....not sure what they are....if they are dead people's souls or stuff from another dimension that somehow gets stuck in our dimension....or what? Interesting topic.....are you doing research again? : )

I see the reasoning behind what defines a ghost, but I've never seen one or experienced one. Well, let me put to you this way. I've never seen one up close and personal. Though I blogged an event that occured here in Miami about a month or so back. You might recall it. Where a security camara at a gas stationed filmed for about a half hour a greenish blob that floated around. Moving from left to right and at times landing on cars before it finally left the scene. Reports were that the gas station had been built under an old indian grave site.
