On Tuesday the 16th, I walked down the street to the community center to go to the 3rd AMXS Spouse's Social, which we have once a month, only to find out that we were not in fact having "game night", but a surprise baby shower for me! I really was very surprised, though two months previously I had thought they might do something because they asked a lot of questions about the nursery. They never said anything else about it after that though. This was just hours after we went to our 36 week OBGyn appointment and found out that the baby is head down, on the left side, and I'm softened and ready to pop at any time. (I'm not dilated yet though.)

In the group photo:
On the top far right, Ro, helped organize the party and took all of the pictures.
Two people over in beige is Cathy, she made the AWESOME cake.
Next to her in the center is Cathy, the Wing Commander's wife, arranged 80% of the party and got the Commander's secretary to correspond with CJ for two months to ask what we needed (apparently he can keep a secret better than I thought he could).
Next to her in the striped shirt is Michelle, who I believe is the person that first suggested a baby shower two months ago. She hosts baking parties every once in a while, and is having a teaparty on Sunday.
The three not mentioned are new and I cannot for the life of me remember their names, but the lady on the far left was very dilligent about folding the tissue paper from the gift bags, and the one in blue next to her won the "Guess How Many Candy Rattles are in the Jar" game.
On the bottom far right, Erica, she just moved up here two months ago from the south and works in the pediatric clinic Odin will be going to on base.
To the left of her is Melissa and her baby Peyton. Melissa is having her husband bring their baby bath and monitors to work for CJ today, along with the other presents she gave us.
To the left of me is Lyz and her little boy, RJ. She's the closest to my age and we talk and hang out a lot.
On the far left is Krista, another of the new girls, but I remember her name because she's 20 weeks pregnant. I thought it was kind of funny she just happened to show up at a baby shower for her first social.

In all, we received:

  • All of the pirate fabric (I had said I'm making the baby bedding)
  • The rest of the treasure chest cake, in which there were four baby spoons, a pacifier and rattle (plus my tiara and pearls)
  • Another of the same rattle from the cake
  • 1 baby bathtub
  • 15oz bottle of Johnson's baby shampoo
  • 9oz bottle of Huggies baby wash
  • 9oz bottle of Huggies baby lotion
  • 6 wash cloths
  • 4 burp cloths
  • 7 pieces of clothing
  • 1 teething ring
  • 1 portable mobile that attaches to the car seat and plays music
  • 1 bath and body set
  • 1 Microwavable/Freezable relaxation pad for forehead and eyes
  • 1 receiving blanket
  • 1 fuzzy blue baby blanket
  • 1 box of bra pads
  • 252 size 1 diapers
  • 160 baby wipes
  • Diaper rash cream
  • Mylocin (infant gas relief drops)
  • Baby thermometer (1 oral/armpit + 1 rectal with plastic sanitary covers)
  • 1 set of baby monitors

We are finishing the crib tonight after CJ gets off work. I'm looking forward to it, because we bought it a week ago and have had problems with some of the parts being broken or the wrong stain. That will be completely finished soon though. CJ also came home with a Diaper Genie, which I've been wanting since we found out I was pregnant because it's so much more hygenic and less stinky than a garbage pail (It's supposed to be relatively air tight).
We've also got two drawers full of clothing for 0-6 months, not counting the gifts received on Tuesday, which are all 3-9 month sizes.
We also have 5 bibs, a bed skirt, mattress cover and changing table pad cover, a fleece blanket with a print of dolphins underwater, which we hung on the wall. I've also crocheted a blanket, and am in the process of making the crib bumper. We also got a carrier cover lined with faux sheepskin. It's like a sleeping bag for the baby. A lot of people up here use them for obvious reasons.
We've also got a carseat/carrier that fits on a stroller we got as well. They don't match, but I don't really care.

Anyway, I'm sure you're all tired of reading, so I'll just stop here. And yes, my nesting instinct has definitely kicked in.
