I've gotten so tired of the debate.  Was it the Ramones?  Was it the Sex Pistols?  Was it the MC5?  It was none of them, and yeah, I'm big-headed enough to tell you you're wrong.  Punk rock has been around as long as people have been.  It's an attitude that says that civilization as we know it is fucked, and we're not going to be a part of it.  It's saying "Fuck you, I don't care if my opinion is popular, I'm going to express it anyway!"  It's damned near everything that Woody Guthrie ever sang, it's Billie Holliday singing "Strange Fruit," it's Martin Luther nailing his edicts on the church door, and, if you believe the Christian dogma, it's Eve saying "Fuck you God, too much knowledge isn't dangerous to anyone but those in control, so I'm going to eat this apple, and I'm going to share it!"  All of this is far more punk rock than anything ever sold at Hot fuckin' Topic.  So remember, an apple a day keeps oppression away.
