Things have been really busy this past few months, with teaching, traveling and playing gigs. I'm really happy with the way the new guitar etude book turned out. Mike Allemana did a fantastic job playing the etudes. Jazz Guitar Etudes (with Tab) is now available on my educational website.

By popular request, I've just completed a trumpet edition of my most popular book, Jazz Saxophone Etudes. I reworked the etudes so that they're idiomatically suited for trumpet. It was a fun challenge to take these familiar etudes, and revise them to work well on the trumpet. I'm happy with the results, and with the way that Mark Olen performed them. This new book, Jazz Trumpet Etudes will be available by January 2009, if not sooner.

I'm in Chicago for a couple of weeks to record my new beginning level etude book, and to play some gigs. I'll be heading back to Phoenix on October 18th. I'm looking forward to a new Tuesday and Wednesday night gig at Remington's in Scottsdale, Arizona, with my wife, the great pianist/signer Judy Roberts, and with the legendary Danny Long. Danny has the most incredible repertoire! It's truly an honor to play with his group.
