Hello everyone,
Today is a very special day for me. As many of you know my son Corbin was born on this day in 2007. He was born with a chromosomal abnormality called Trisomy 13. Although this is a rare disorder, many children are born around the world with Trisomy 13 and other related disorders every year. This disorder and others like it are labeled as 'incompatible with life' or 'failure to thrive' conditions. Although this statement is often true, many children do survive and face several challenges everyday. These children and their families go through struggles on a daily basis that are sometimes inconceivable. These families receive support from several non-profit organizations that operate from fundraisers and donations.
Unfortunately, my son was not one of the survivors of Trisomy 13, however, he did spend 1 hour and 10 minutes on this earth. Please feel free to read Corbin's story
http://www.livingwithtrisomy13.org/MemoriesofCorbin.htm. In honor of his 2nd birthday I have donated $25 to several organizations that were pillars of support for me and my family during my difficult pregnancy as well as after. I know without a doubt that my journey would have been a thousand times more difficult without these wonderful organizations' assistance.
As a gift to Corbin on his birthday that will benefit other children around the world, I ask that you look inside your heart and also donate to these organizations. You don't have to donate much because even the smallest donation helps. Keep in mind that each donation is also tax deductible. You can donate to only one or you can donate to many, but I do ask that you at least take the time to see what these amazing organizations have to offer to families that are facing the most difficult time in their lives.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this information and share in part of this journey. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Robin Martin
