That's what me mum used to call it.  In other words, falling behind.  And while that's pretty usual for me, right now it's probably the worst it's been for a while.

I wrote about Wiley, you know about that and it set me back a bit.  Then, two weeks ago, the hub went for a ride on his bike and was attacked by an unknown assailant.

He's been riding forever, even raced and tricked BMX in his younger days.  He and his buds still get together and hit the parks to show off their chops.  He's taken his share of tumbles.  In the past, he'd just come home and fill me in on the details as I cleaned up the wounds.

So when I got a call from him saying he'd been in an accident, I freaked.  Obviously it was out of the norm...especially when he wanted me to come pick him up.  I ran around getting dressed and out the door.  Just as I'm starting the car, not five minutes later, he calls again.  Someone takes the phone from him and introduces himself as a local EMT.  They are taking him to a local ER.  I said that I'd meet him there.

He's in shock and pretty banged up.  As things muddle through his mind, what he first thought was an accident was becoming clearer.  He remembered looking over his shoulder, seeing a car full of young guys, one sitting on the rolled down window and hanging out.  He thought he'd seen something in the guy's hand, like a baseball bat.

Must have been because he's got this nasty, open gash on the back of his head.  No way something like that could have happened if he'd just fallen off the bike, either to the side or front.

On top of that, he's in tremendous pain in his left shoulder.  CAT scan, x-rays and another CAT scan and the verdict is that he's broken his collarbone and done damage to his shoulder which he'd had surgery on years ago due to a BMX accident.

Now two weeks later, he's still having major problems with the head wound.  It's not healing.  Had to head back to the ER because of it being infected.  Infections are bad news any way, but near the brain...damn.

As you can tell, that means I've been pretty busy dealing with his stuff.  New doctors, Victims of Violent Crimes, etc.  Hell, I haven't even gotten over to the PD property department to get his bike back yet.

Still I've been doing some work.  Have written three new reviews that I haven't blogged about here yet.  Also, new doings going on at BlogCritics.  All of those deserve their own blogs and soon.

Hopefully, I'll have those finished by this time next week.

Anyway...that's what's been happening here.  Hope things have been a lot better for you at your end of things!!

Tink i'm sorry to read all this.....it must be sooo hard for you & of course i wish your husband a really good & thorough recovery. There are a couple of amino acids that help heal the body much more quickly, L Glutamine & L Ornithine Alpha Ketogluturate you can get them at body builders shops or online.
I hope all returns to normal for you as soon as possible x

WOW...I must not be thinking too clearly because it didn't even cross my mind. He keeps up on his supplements a lot better than I do and I know that the L Glutamine and L Ornithine are part of his regimen.

After a really bad setback a few years ago, I had to drop the additionals and use more foods to get them into my system. I know that I wasn't od'ing on them but all of a sudden, after years of feeling like they really helped out, instead they seemed to make the vertigo and nausea worse. The nutritionist I was seeing at the time felt that it was the extreme flare that set it off and not the other way around.

I guess that's my way as asking you, Tachyon, if that's happened to you before.

And thanks for the advice and good wishes.
Hope things going well for you!!

No it's never happened to me but in the 80's for 5 years i had terrible vertigo & since xmas last year i've been getting it again. I had it very severley & had to have injections which worked really well & no side affects. They gave me the same thing in pill form as back up but i can't take them cos they give me terrible guts ache & bowel problems, deep joy!! My osteopath & GP both say that vertigo can have lots of different causes, who cares...what's the cure????????? LOL!!!
after trying to help my son with his shop for 6 months last year ( far too much for me) i collapsed with central nervous system problems in January (vegus nerve) & am just recovering. I take all the aminos all the time & the only one i have to be careful with is Tyrosine - there's a very fine line between helping & exaserbating. I don't think aminos cause us to get ill.
Every day i eat approx ten fruit & veg but am still on a supplement for EVERYTHING or an injection otherwise i'm deficient. X x X

Dietary sources of glutamine include beef, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, dairy products, cabbage, beets, beans, spinach, and parsley. Small amounts of free L-glutamine are also found in vegetable juices and fermented foods, such as miso.

Thanks sweetie for taking the time to look that up for me. Unfortunately it's gonna put a damper on the whole ABC birthday celebration. We will probably not make it to the Aquarium tomorrow but look forward to seeing you next week.

yes amino acids are parts of proteins from food but for some people the small quantities in food aren't enough, especially in times of body stress & extra demand situations :)

OH...that reminds me...one of the reasons that the nutritionist wasn't overly worried about my reaction to the "L-"s (Glutamine, Orinthine and even Carnitine) was because of the amount of veggies like cabbage and spinach in our diet. We're probably one of the few homes in the States that constantly stocks those greens and parsley and beets too. All those veggies were part of my mum's cooking when I was a kid (and that neighborhood kids would laugh at), thanks to her Aussie upbringing and my dad's Russian one.

Thanks again!!

As I said, I'm way behind...just now answering these newer comments.  Thanks for the good thoughts, even this much later, we're still dealing with it.  Turns out there were a few more broken bones than originally thought...and a surgery he'd had on his shoulder as a kid has been compromised as well.
Know I owe you a zillion phone calls...I'm even further behind in those.

Just know that my thoughts are with you both.  Take care of you and hubs.  I hope he heals up soon, this has to be just horribly painful for him.
