The humanitarian project:
"To
mark its centenray year, Lee Cooper, the Fine english denim company,
has organized a gala auction, on Monday 29 September 2008. Unique and
iconic pieces have been created by leading designers, artists,
musicians, brands an personalities to champion the fight against AIDS.
The
red diamond logo spans decades and boarders.Today, established in more
than 70 countries throughout the world, Lee Cooper wants to celebrate
100 years by helping to reach the people infected with HIV / AIDS in
the remotest parts of the world. The aim is also to promote prevention
alongside ensuring help gets to the children that need it most.
The
Lee Cooper 100 years project has established itself at 2008 focal point
for mobilising contemporary designers and artists against HIV / AIDS.
Committed to the cause, Lee Cooper will present more than 40 unique
pieces for the auction.
We would like to extend our appreciation
to Drouot Montaigne and Pierre Cornette de St Cyr, who as partners and
friends helped us to prepare and bring to you this gala auction.
The charities:
The
French red cross, founded in 1864 by Henry Dunant, aims to prevent and
alleviates suffering in all its forms. It also carries out work within
the international red cross and Red Crescent Movement, which includes
186 national societies and 97 million volunteers worldwide. It is now
the largest humanitarian organisation in the world.
Designers
Against Aids (DAA) is a project of a non-profit organization Beauty
without Irony and was founded in 2004 to raise AIDS awareness in the
international media and towards the general public, more specifically
towards youngs people in the industrialized countries. DAA does this by
asking high profile and emerging fashion designers, musicians, artists
and others celebrities to create designs that are then printed on items
such as T-shirts, swetaers and bags. "
