God placed the plight of His persecuted church on my heart a few years ago, after reading "Back to Jerusalem" (by Paul Hattaway). The book affected me so greatly that it inspired a song (by the same name) and the desire to tell the affluent church about the persecution Christians are facing in other parts of the world.
Christians are labeled enemies of the state and are imprisoned, tortured and killed, and their families are labeled pariahs, so that any that try to help them also risk persecution. This often means that mothers and children of imprisoned leaders are starving, trying to eek out an existence until their breadwinner is released from prison. This isn't just happening in China. It's happening in many Asian countries, the middle east and parts of Africa.
God is impressing upon me the need to pray for these persecuted Christians on a daily basis.
Pray that God will lend His strength to Christians to endure their persecution. Pray that those in prison will not yield to the temptation to turn away from God to save their life. Pray that God will help their families to find ways to survive. Pray that God will continue to fill the needs of those Christians in China that have thus far evaded persecution, and that He pour His Spirit out over China, enabling His church to reach the lost and turn many hearts to Jesus. Amen.
