people still ask how to get their music on 93X
here is what you have to do:
1. make a BROADCAST QUALITY cd. recording it in your practice space with a shitty mic on a multi-tape recorder is NOT broadcast quality. if you turn that in, it will only make your band sound WORSE, so... dont do that.
2. make an EDITED copy. censorship sucks, that's understandable, but the FCC's got rules... rules that if broken cost LOTS of money. so, unless you wanna pay the fine for non-edited music, you have GOT to make clean copies of your music. if you dont, we wont play it.
3. a) put it in a PADDED envelope. i cant tell you how many cds have arrived scratched all to hell or completely broken. once you do that, write EXACTLY this on the front:
Beck at 93X
attn: Locals Only
1960 Union Ave
Memphis, TN 38104
b) now, you CAN drop your cd off directly at the station. but it's VERY important that when you do, you lable it like you would if you mailed it. see... the people in the mailroom have several different radio stations to deliver mail to, not to mention all of channel 5 as well. so make it as specific for them so they dont "misplace it."
alrighty guys, that about covers it. there is a locals section under our official website www.93xmemphis.com that i suggest you check out. it's links to band's myspace pages and what-not.
dont forget, Locals Only is weeknights at 9:45 and 10:45.
there are also Local Looks which happen randomly once a day.
so get us your stuff!
