Heya there peeps!

How goes it?

Well it's less than 7 days now before I pack my bags and head off to do my funkee thang out in Germany.....which I am stupidly excited about!  Can't wait!

Hope to see you out there, give me a shout if you're planning to come along to a gig or two

So as you may have gathered from the title this blog isn't exactly very musical orientated.....but it is to do with a very important thing that most musos find it hard to be without, and that is our car

Last week I had a wonderful conversation with a friend of mine about aaaalll the motors we've ever owned....and it brought back so many great (and not so great!!) memories

So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I give you..........

**Katie's Cars!!**

Alrighty!

First up on my list of motors, is the first car I e-v-e-r bought which was a wonderful Triumph Dolomite

I managed to pick one up for £350 and I loved it so much  But it just drank fuel like there was no tomorrow lol Plus I was only 18 when I bought it and the insurance was just insaine!
My next car has to be one of the bestest cars I've ever owned.....and if you've ever had one of these you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.....

It is of course a Mini Clubman Estate, such an awesome runner.  It had a massive amount of boot space in the back and it was so tiny wee you could park it in the smallest of spaces.....and being bright yellow it meant I could always find it in a busy car park
After my lovely Mini passed away I moved on to my first automatic car, which was:

....a Rover Metro!!

A lot of people used to pull a bit of a yucky type face when they saw this car, but I tell you what - it was like the tardis in the boot! I've never had such a little car with so much boot space.  I remember I had a gig up in Birmingham and I managed to fit my PA, my guitars and a drum kit in there! Amazing

Next up on my list was another of my favs, I just adored this car so much:

A 1980s VW Passat.  It was so retro and I loved it! Ooodles and oodles of space and when you put your foot down it really shifted :) In fact it shifted so well I managed to drive it into the front of a lorry.....really not very clever!!

So after the death of my lovely Passat I managed to grab this Toyota Carina 1.6 which was another automatic car.

This motor has to have the most comfy seats in the whole world! You could sit in them and it really felt like going back to bed  Such a great car with a proper kicking Sony stereo!

The next car on my list was the nippy-est car I've had, and it oozed charector  It is of course the bubbly Nissan Micra....

This car did so many long distance trips and was by far the most reliable car I've ever owned!

AND last! But by no means least, my first ever diesal van  A Dihatsu Hijet van!!

I loved this van soooooooo much! She had a tiny weeny diesel engine that was right underneath the front seats and when you were going along you really had to shout to make yourself heard! Top speed downhill wind asissted was 55mph and she did 0-60 in about an hour lol but she was such a great van and I miss her dearly!

So there ya go, that's my list of motors  What's your fav that you've ever owned?  x

Back in the days before we all went green, I had a 2.2 litre Austin Princess - I think it was an X reg. It was absolutely massive inside, and (to me) pretty luxurious. It probably did about 15 to the gallon! But my favourite ever was probably my 1972 Hillman Hunter estate. Near the end I had to hit the starter motor with a hammer to get it start, and get in from the passenger side 'cos the driver's side door was stuck (what was I thinking?!). Ahh, happy days...

Is it wrong to be proud that, in terms of vehicular style, I'm passionately non-British?

lol! Nah, we wont hold it against you Mr.Yonder.....your non-British cars wouldn't fit on our weeny roads anyways ;) x

Exactly.  Road size is a luxury I proudly enjoy.  And, being from Texas, I consider most of the rest of the roads in Americaland as weeny!  Good times.

Enjoyed the blog btw, of course.

If I were going to choose a foreign car (foreign to us in the USA, that is) to customize or hot rod, I'd think I'd choose your Mini Clubman Estate.  Small two-door station wagons are nearly unheard of over here.  I'd take out the side glass behind the doors, put metal over the openings to make it into a sedan delivery.  Then I'd swap in a stompin' engine, give it some nice wheels and a killer paint job.  My little buggy would be king of the car shows with the steering wheel on the "wrong" side of the car!
