Am looking forward to playing with the great jazz trumpeter Brian Lynch this weekend (Aug.1 and 2) at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Brian is a long time friend and  came up through the "jazz college" of Art Blakey. He also has performed extensively with jazz alto  sax legend Phil Woods. But perhaps Brian is best known for his collaborations with salsa legend Eddie Palmieri. Last year their cd "Simpatico"  won the Grammy for best Latin Jazz album. Brian was also a member, with myself, in Sheila E.'s E Train band. Filling out the band will be Peter Schimke on piano, Jeff Bailey on bass and Kevin Washington on drums.
