The above graphic is to give you some idea of how deep an interest I take in the turmoil in the Middle East. For my part, I believe that President Obama is far better able to get his arms around that situation that would President McCain.

Here's how I felt about President Obama, when he was presidential candidate Obama. I happen to be of Italian descent. Let's suppose this situation had happened .... oh, yeah, thank heavens it never did. Then presidential candidate Obama hated anything Italian so much that he spat in my face and called me a "dirty wop". I still would've voted for him. There are my concerns for my country, and there is my personal dignity. Of course, Secret Service or no Secret Service, I would've coldcocked him.

Anyway, back to the turmoil in the Middle East, I am conjecturing, thanks to some evidence, that President is groping towards what is really bugging the Arab portion of the Islamic. Guess what! It ain't so much Israel. It's America. More specifically, it's American technology, what it did to poison Islam.

So far as I can tell, the "bedbugs", who perpetrated 9/11 believe this about their religion, and the fateful choice Muslims must make. Choosing to be a good Muslim means living in the 14th (fourteenth century). Choosing to live in the 21st (twenty-first) century means apostasy. Those bedbugs are positive that apostasy is an offense that must be punished by execution.

And here's what in their mind is so horrible about the 21st century. The moon, yes that celestial body that inspires love lyrics and influences the tides, is now a monument to American INFIDEL technology. Here in the world of secular Western Civilization, that's no big hairy deal. But in Islam, that's one huge female parent violating deal.

Choosing to live in the 21st century means tolerating that state of the moon. Living in the 14th century might be a tactic to avoid that necessity of tolerance.

That raises a rhetorical question. What's so big a deal about the moon being a monument to American INFIDEL technology. For openers, it might prove enlightening to review some Arab history, when the Prophet was beginning his career by settling a dispute about a certain token from heaven. And that involves the Kaaba.

Take the Kaaba. According to the good people at Merriam-Webster, and I'm quoting, "a small stone building in the court of the Great Mosque at Mecca that contains a sacred black stone and is the goal of Islamic pilgrimage and the point toward which Muslims turn in praying". That sacred black stone is, most likely, a meteor. The Arabs in the time of the Prophet considered it as a token from heaven.

So, right at the very start, Muslims regarded and still regard the visible heavens with special reverence. In Islamic culture, that crescent, which represents the moon, is an extremely powerful symbol. It makes a far greater impression upon Muslims that the cross does on Christians. Just so happens, Muslims adhere to the lunar calendar for their religious observance. In fact, their most sacred month Ramadan begins with the first light of the moon at dawn on a certain day.

When an American astronaut stepped foot on the moon, the moon as a symbol was wrenched out of the center of Islam. Then it became a monument to American INFIDEL technology. No wonder, the bedbugs hate America so much.

... wood'jah (?) buh-leave! ... I tend to speculate that the leaders of the Islamic world are infuriated by the snatching of the moon by American INFIDEL technology. Maybe, just maybe, they'd consider ransoming the moon by abjuring all claims to Jerusalem ... bye, bye, Islam's third holiest shrine.
