Just got started and then I bailed for over a week. Been on book tour through Houston and Austin and Denver, back home for two days, and tomorrow, gone again. This time to the Poisoned Pen in Phoenix, on out to San Francisco and San Matteo, and then Seattle. r, Random House has really done me right. VANILLA RIDE seems to be moving briskly, and my short story collection from THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, SANCTIFIED AND CHICKEN FRIED, is moving nicely, and may be near sold out. So if you want a copy, better jump. Good news is that a few years back I injured my hip doing martial arts, and it didn't keep me from training, but it kept me from conditioning. It's taken a long time, but it seems to be finally healing. It may never heal completely, but it has healed enough I can start more aerobic training and I appear to be shedding the pounds quickly, which is nice, as I'd like to get back to my proper weight. Aging is tough enough without that. Currently finishing up THE BOTTOMS screenplay, which Bill Paxton plans to direct, and then I'm going to finish the new Hap and Leonard, which is tentatively titled, DEVIL RED. I'm loving being back with the boys, and who knows how many novels I'll write about them. I'm sure there will be pauses in between, but I'm hoping no more eight year gaps. So, pack and go...Hail Texas, except for our stupid governor and the succession talk. He must be sniffing something stronger than dirty socks.
